Who’s gonna make the gravy?
What gravy?
picanha spun up on the rotisserie sunday. if you’ve never eaten steak this way, do it. it’ll blow your mind
Followed by lots of fibre. Best thing for you almost after water.
Is that the rump top cap sliced into steaks then threaded onto skewers?
I’ve always wondered which direction to cut the cap up? What’s your method?(with or against the grain?)
Just recovering from my first bout of diverticulitis. Might have to put WOB on ignore. You’re killing me.
Ive never taken fibre supplement - til recently. A Michael Mosley sleep doco suggested prebiotic fibre somehow moderated your blood sugar levels during sleep and helped 3am waker-uppers like Mosley stay asleep til dawn. Mosley rated a last thing before bed teaspoon of pre-biotic fibre in water very highly for sounder sleep. My daughter has this 3 am insomnia a bit, and swears it works. Dunno if it’s psychosomatic - but worth thinking about for insomniacs. I’m not an insomniac but do feel like sleep is heavy with the fibre…
Fibre, so youre saying eat a massive sanga before bed? thanks will do.
What’s an example of a probiotic fibre? Is that something like metamucil?
yep, rump cap
how you slice depends on how your cooking it. like this, I cut with the grain, because once off the skewer the final cut will be against the grain
After a heavy few days of eating and drinking I’ve gone vegetarian and alcohol-free until Christmas Day. Tonight I made Nagi’s Vegetable Tagine | RecipeTin Eats with brown rice. Delicious, and I feel very virtuous. Tomorrow will be veggie burgers.
Yes, and it’s ‘pre’ biotic - basically food for probiotic bugs.
I think not all fibre supplements are said to be ‘pre biotic’ (maybe they are fibre but not such good food for those bug). I’m not certain about this - just what I gave read/seen.
Anyway it seems to help.
Edit - what he said above!
Yes well looking at that link it seems that all the things you normally think of as “healthy” food have lots of prebiotic fibre.
Yer, you can buy prebiotic fibre powders too. Supplement stores will have them. I’m sure Metamucil does the same sort of thing
Apparently one of the best things you can eat is a bit of potato salad. Soemthing to do with cooking a spud letting it go cold then eating it.
Resistant Starch…
What’s on the menu for Christmas? I’m in charge of the roast veggies and dessert platter this year.
Whateva ‘Casa D’Abruzzo Club’ are serving.
Well, Mrs Fox and I are all alone Christmas Day.
So we start early with a very nice Rumball Sparkling Shiraz to wash down the 3 dozen Tassie oysters, I just got at South Melbourne Market. I was getting prawns but at nearly $60 a kg, said a big no.
Then we have a superb Shiraz from Coonawarra, to complement the lovely ham from Donato’s in Carlton and the Eye fillet that I roast rare in my BBQ, and the deboned chook that Mrs Fox will do something nice with. Smashed potatoes, roasted pumpkin and carrot and probably a salad with blue cheese, home grown lettuces and tomato.
Then we have some nice sticky wine from the Barossa to go with the Pudding and Custard, and the fresh strawberries from the local farm. Mince pies and shortbreads made by Mrs Fox, with some nice coffee.
No kids or grandkids this year, and I know what Mrs Fox the Second will be providing, so I will send photos of what they are missing.
Merry Christmas
