Thank you I think that’s actually owned by the family of an old friend of mine from Uni!
Serendipity!
Even the suburb is called Fark Carlton.
University Cafe. Also in Lygon Street. Donnini’s does great pasta and if you’re lucky Mick Gatto will be there with a few mates. If they have ravioli, order that.
My Lygon Street rule of thumb is to keep walking past any restaurants that have touts out on the footpath trying to tempt you into their premises.
This might be fun.
Owned by the Sooshi Mango guys.
I haven’t personally been, though my son has and he said the food was good.
I use that rule pretty much anywhere in the world
Owned by Frank Dimattina former Tigers and Kangas player.
Always been a nice restaurant, been going there over 50 years.
Seafood Platter for Two, is huge but it is also $160
That’s a decent price for a good seafood platter
He also owns Lamaro’s in South Melbourne. Best veal schnitzel you’ll find. Excellent wine list too. Not cheap.
I avoid seafood platters. Too much food. I prefer to choose a good fish dish and eat that.
I haven’t been in this thread for two years Anyways, my wife is coeliac so I made KFC. It was finga lick n’ good!
It’s been damn hot in FNQ and no rain. A nice fresh Asian salad and Vietnamese style chicken really hit the spot!
Yum
Have been and the food was quite nice.
I’ve hardly cooked this year. Terrible.
Indeed. I’ll get back into the swing of things next week.
There’s a blackberry patch on public land near us. I spoke to the local council outdoor spaces guy who said they spray very selectively these days, and had no plans to spray this patch, and hadn’t for many years. And that they put unmissable signs everywhere when they do spray, and use a heavily-dyed spray (blue). Anyway, I’d gorged on the blackberries a couple of times while dog-walking, and collected some to bring home. Mentioned it to my son and said I’d buy the ice cream if he got some. We did have some with ice cream, but then yesterday he got some rhubarb from the garden and made a pie with his GF. The blackberries taste about 11 times better than the bloated ones you get in punnets IMO. The bought ones aren’t tart enough for me, and akways seem to have a faintly mouldy taste.
Yum! My parents have a blackberry tree. Need to sus out if they’re ready yet.
