COVID-19 Round 14 - tiering into the abyss

Don’t call it a ring of steel. Call it an exclusion zone.
Just like don’t call it a lockdown. Call it a stay at home order.

1 connected to Newport apartments
1 transport controller - shared car with original one. He is the Doncaster exposure site. Very limited time in community

2nd case another traffic controller who shared a ride with the other traffic controller. Looks like only one exposure site from that guy.

Don’t think it is allowed under AFL rules and AFLPA will not sign off on it.

I think you miss the point. It’s not what the protest is about or for, it’s the fact that perhaps the timing for ANY protest isn’t the best.

But I was more interested in your view on the safety of protests since your stance previously was that they were fine.

The two locally transmitted cases in Victoria

Minister for Health, Martin Foley says:

"One was a personal close contact in the Newport apartments , visited by the traffic controller case that we’ve been speaking about over recent days. This person was moved very quickly as an identified primary close contact into hotel quarantine. It was one of the cases that tested negative first but then has developed symptoms and tested positive yesterday in hotel quarantine.

"At that Newport apartment complex, all remaining 30 residents have returned initial negative tests. And the residents on the particular floor where this case resided remain in isolation and are cooperating with our public health teams out there at Newport to make sure that they do everything that they need to do to both stay protected, and are working really closely with our public health team.

"The second case is a fellow traffic controller of our Moonee Valley Racecourse testing site case that we have been talking about. This case shared a car ride after work with the previously announced case. He was isolated as soon as he was identified as a primary close contact and had very limited time in the community. But he did have an exposure site, which we posted last evening.

"That site is the Woolworths in Devon Plaza, Doncaster, which was listed as a tier-1 public exposure site late yesterday. So, please, if you have visited Woolworths in Devon Plaza, Doncaster, on Wednesday 28 July between 10:20am and 11:25am, you must immediately get yourself isolated for 14 days, and you must get tested.

“All other staff present at the Moonee Valley Racecourse have also returned initial negative tests, but they remain in quarantine for 14 days. We still are investigating how it is that our first traffic controller contracted COVID.”
