COVID-19 Round 19 - Stick a Forklift in it

Well my daughter tested positive since my last post. I started getting a bad headache to go with everything else I’m going through at around 6am so tested myself again at 8am and it showed positive. I don’t know what’s going on. I have been testing everyday since Sunday when my son tested positive to covid and twice a day since Wednesday when I first started having symptoms. Haven’t positive so thought it was the flu. I just went to get a PCR test to make sure. Is it possible to have flu and covid at the same time.

I think it is possible to have both. But everything sounds like Covid to me.

My daughter had symptoms but didn’t test positive on a rat until nearly 2 weeks after they started. It’s a strange beast.

I would think it’s possible, but probably more likely it was COVID all along, but the test didn’t pick it up before now.

I think many people test early, get a negative result and assume it’s not COVID. If you know you were in contact with a positive case, then have cold symptoms, I’d always assume it’s COVID regardless of test results.

The thing is so contagious nowadays, it’s ridiculous. Pretty much as contagious as measles, and with measles, someone can be in a large auditorium with a positive case, and it will find every single person that isn’t vaccinated. Measles usually finds every single unvaccinated person in a whole school, even if they aren’t in the same class.

I’m feeling much better now. I self diagnosed myself as having tonsillitis as I’ve had that many times before and this felt exactly the same. I hadn’t been near any covid positive case so even without doing more tests, still convinced it wasn’t that.

I’ll probably get covid next week when I go out into the wild again!

Go outside and stand in the sunshine for a little while. All of a sudden the world feels like a better place. Oh, and fark you covid

Yep. I walked to the coffee shop today. I feel even better because of it.

Yes.

For anyone with covid. Go easy on yourself, but I think just quietly sitting in the sun did me wonders.

Anyone who’s recently infected, is this the second time you’ve had it?

I’m not institutionalised, you’re just weird.
Did you know there are people outside?
No, thank you.

Was just borrowing @choppsuey favourite line from early in the pandemic.

We have staff that are still knowingly coming to work with Covid and judging how busy things are around town I”m guessing we aren’t the only ones

It’s the unvaxxed sons coming to visit their unvaxxed mothers in the hospital and demanding to be let into isolation because covid isn’t real, for me.

Of course there’s a proportion of people doing that, albeit small.
There’d be a much larger proportion of people with symptoms of various severity going about their lives after a negative RAT (or multiple).

My unvaxxed, non-covid believing brother, who has yelled abused at us over the past year for getting vaccinated, now has the ■■■■■ with the rest of the family because he caught covid and we didn’t reach out and ask him if he was ok.

I mean…I didn’t specifically say…this time.

And spreading all the other non-covid bugs around too!

Yep. It’s quite remarkable how quickly the “soldier on” mentality just kicked straight back into gear actually.

How much more of this peak do we have to go?
Two months?
Four?
I have to believe there’s going to be a time when we don’t have all these people in hospital.
And then we’ll see where we are with staff, which still won’t be good.
I’d like to thank Daddy Dan for at least trying to address the issue with the virtual ED. Don’t know how it works, but it has to help at least a little bit.

Seeing all the ferals on FB with their hot takes on Dan should have opened new hospitals and given us 4,000 new beds or something is a trial.
I’m sorry, but beds aren’t the issue.
We have beds. Nice clean empty ones.
Don’t tell people in the waiting room that, though, it might not go down so well.
