McGowan is failing to follow the science - Omicron quickly broke through the breaches of the double VAXXED ( with a good percentage being recently double VAXXED ) while the early data suggests a booster shot will still result in breakthrough infections - Maybe McGowan is waiting for a more specific COVID vaccine.
And yet strangely, he is still pretty popular in WA.
I’m pretty sure he doesn’t give a fat rat’s clacker for the opinions of anyone outside of WA including the likes of ScoMo and random internet warriors.

Isolating WA for another 3 months while they get to triple dose will save hundreds of lives.
On the flip side, opening up at this stage is a conscious decision to sacrifice hundreds of lives.
If I was in WA, I’d be royally ■■■■■■ off if the government intentionally brought covid into the state.

Do they really need to do this tho, I was on the phone to my crying soon to turn 80yo mother till an hour and half ago, she just wants to hug and kiss her grand daughter.
We were planning on driving over late April for my nephews wedding(my daughter is really excited because she was to be flower girl) and mums 80th.
Wife and I are now triple vaxxed and my daughter had her 1st Pfizer today and will be double vaxxed on March 16, mum and dad are boosted and all my family over there are at least double vaxxed, we would happily provide negative test pre and post arrival, do we really need to quarentine for 14days.
Unless you have family in WA you really have no idea what this is doing to many many people.
The majority now understand that he won’t open until at least 80% triple vaxxed, so why would ya go and get a booster?
Lets stay closed and ■■■■ the small percentage of people who have done what all governments have asked yet still have to suffer the mental ■■■■■■■ anguish that I’m suffering right now.
Please don’t take this as a personal attack on what you’re saying, I do get it, but WA have by far after Tassie the easiest border to control, it doesn’t have to be this hard.

The data is showing that there are still lots of breakthrough infections if you are triple vaxxed. You only have to look at Israel which is starting a second booster for ‘at risk’ groups WA is delaying the inevitable.
WA is delaying the inevitable. Vaccination rates have already been slow there and why rush out and get your booster?
People with families in WA and across Australia are paying a heavy price for this. How long does it go on for? I remember a nurse in the hospital I am currently working at telling me about a projected date in May or perhaps later.
We wait to see if the current Omicron outbreak there can be contained, but it’s only a matter of time before this or a future outbreak gets really going.
When the virus finally takes root in WA, before or after they open their borders, it’s going to rip through there - short of a new vaccine that specifically targets Omicron and 95% of Western Australians having taken it. Don’t see that happening, so WA is going to have to face the music at some point. Eventually enough people in WA will get sick of North Korea mode and things will have to change.

As much as I dislike Perth and most things West Australian, living in Perth for the past two years would have been much better than being in Melbourne.
McGowan is looking after his people and that is what they want.

Given the WA border will remain closed seemingly into Winter, It is hard to imagine WA borders being open before next Summer.
By which point there will of course be some new reason to keep them closed for longer.

I reckon his popularity will drop a lot when the Eagles and Dockers have to hub in Victoria for the whole season

There is no amount of money in the world that would entice me to be a political leader during covid. The decisions they are making are all bad options. It’s probably why Scomo has been paralysed and too little too late throughout the pandemic.
