Crappest Moments of our Essington History

Two that come to mind I was there for was getting hammered by the Saints after the crows coach died, and Ben Brown going apeshit after we were 5 goals up in a final.

Listening to us get beat in ‘99 was horrific. My old man was in Scotland and he called home about 30 secs after the siren. He said “How’d we go?” I paused and said we lost.
He took a moment, died a little inside and said “righto, I’ll call back tomorrow “

■■■■ I hope we win tonight.

Fark Carlton.

Colemans knee injury.

At the time I was ropable but in hindsight this ranks up there as one of the funniest things I’ve seen on a football field.

As for crappest? I still get PTSD from Drew Petrie doing the Frank The Tank dance…

Coleman getting rubbed out by a country mile.

Giving up against the Saints in 2015 was a low point. I’ve never seen a side like that actually collectively give up.
Week later Jobe was drinking beers at Wimbledon.

Jobe losing his Brownlow was absolutely a low point.

I wasn’t a happy chappy after this infamous moment.

That was the worst imo, complete hopelessness.

Losing the 99 prelim is the absolute top worst moment for me. Only time i have ever cried after a game.

I recall chatting to my mate on the train on the way to the game about leaving early to queue for GF tickets.

What a disgrace this was. There is no other club capable of behaving like that after a game. Not even North or the GC.

Dodoro picking Parish over Oliver

Oliver went before Parish champ.
Francis before Curnow and McKay on the other hand… Can’t wait for that lesson tonight…

Sirens gone, knock off time, all good.

1948 was a replay? There were rumours about one of the losing GFs in the forties being thrown.

And there is still a section of people who still argue/justify why this guy should be captain.

Take a look at the player (Merrett) behind them. Enough said.

Ooo champed him

Yes. I think there was a view that we had so many injuries after losing the prelim to Sydney in 96 we would have been trounced in the GF if we had beaten Sydney.
IIRC Hird was out with injury for most of the 99 season. I can’t recall any injuries from the 99 prelim.

Everything can be traced back to that.
