Crichton Medal 2024

Merrett will win by a mile

Martin will go high mainly because he played a few blinders and played every game. Brad will then point to it and say he got the positional change right

Most improved: jake Kelly

I’m going with…
1 - Merrett
2 - Martin
3 - McGrath
4 - Caldwell
5 - Langford

McKay to poll well early then get reigned in.

Most improved - Durham
Rising star - Jones
Most courageous- theres really very candidates for this award. Redman won it last year. Maybe Durham.

It usually goes to a player upward of 10 games who has barely played beforehand.
Could be Jones, Cox, Menzie, Hobbs or Caddy.

It’s close between Jones and Caddy, but Jones performed as well (if not better) for longer.

Yeah, it’d be pretty on brand to name a completely underwhelming player as our rising star

Also remember our voting is wierd. Each game players are graded on values and all this crap - along with how they played

I don’t know how you guys do it. Other than the table service beers, I couldn’t think of anything worse than going to this and immersing myself in our own stench of mediocrity and hearing the same cliched platitudes ringing out from those on stage. And I used to go to the Crichton Medal too back in the day.

The big question is whether Weideman will turn up in a club tie or not

It’s all about the tie.

We need a tie watch on all players.

Top 10
1 Merrett
2 Martin
3 Durham
4 Caldwell
5 McGrath
6 Langford
7 McKay
8 Stringer
9 Redman
10 Duursma

If redman is top 10 after his year, pack up the shop. Its done

The Chricton used to have a Most Unselfish award. Allegedly, it wasn’t highly valued.

Our Best and fairest usually is advantaged to those who play more games.

Redman played 21 /23 games.

unless you putting guys like Jones, Gresham or Laverde ahead of him who played similar games.

then next most matches you have Cox, Kelly, Perkins, Heppell,

then rest of guys missed 7 (Draper) or 8 + Duursma, Hind, Menzie, Wright, Guelfi, Hobbs, Parish

I fear an early death should that be said.

  1. Merrett
  2. Martin
  3. Caldwell
  4. Duz

I expect McGrath’s strong third of the year will have him somewhere in it. I just think the 5-10 is the hardest and least deserving group I remember for us. Whoever gets 5th doesn’t deserve it, simple as that. And if anyone finishes above the 4 above, it’s a joke.

McKay could be in the top few early then drop off the leaderboard in second half of the year.
