Correct. Not all batsmen can come out and smack quick scores, and those that do are not regular at it. Lynn mat be a smasher and he is worth having for those few good games, but Head needs to learn to graft better and so do a few of the others. Get the quick singles or two and then when your eye is on go the tonk.
And stop this planting the planting the feet with the back leg out of the way for the big hit every ball. Normal cricket shots can actually score big runs with traditional shot selection. If you look at someone like Hayden, or even Gilly quite often in the old days, they didnāt often just clear the leg, they advanced down the track, they went back and across, they got to the pitch of the ball, and they cold easily clear the boundary or get to the rope.
I agree with you except for your comment about Lynn being worth his place for his few good games. I confess that I havenāt checked his stats but I donāt recall him ever having a good game for Australia. Heās certainly never passed 50 in either limited over format and heās played nearly 20 of each I would guess, which is time enough to have had an impact - but heās had none.
Fun fact - I coached Doolan as a jr.He never rings for advice funnily enough.
I recon heād s bit flakey but they all are at the moment. We just need to stick one in and pray to Richie they hit form at some stage.
Iāve got this weird feeling Renshaw will only hit form in the test side. Pat Howard might of fkd him up for good.
Shaun Marsh looks to be leading WA to a win. Currently on 142 not out. He is arguably in the form of his career. Fingers and toes crossed he can perform this summerās tests because we sure need him to stand up.
Pakistan in an almighty choke against NZ. Needing about 30 to win, have lost about 4-10, starting with a dreadful run out, 2 decisions reversed on review, one each way.
Azhar Ali on 50 will have to get them home.
8 down, needing 20 to win.
Down to 13, but the #10, with only one ball to face, holes out in the deep.
Full credit to the Kiwis. A great win and an excellent result for test cricket. You could easily argue they are a better test team than Australia at the moment. There wasnāt even room for a fit Tim Southee - their 4th highest wicket taker of all time and who also was man of the match in their previous test. So they have a bit of depth at the moment.
Its not very often that the Black Caps have one up on the All Blacks. But its fair to so they got one up this weekend.
Interesting that after home teams dominating so much in tests recently that both England and New Zealand* won away from home this week. It was only a couple of weeks ago that Zimbabwe also knocked off Bangledesh on their patch.
*Given Pakistan have played the majority of their home tests for the last 10 years in the UAE I am classing it as a home ground advantage, rather than a neutral venue.
Wadeās (hit 137, Tas have set Vics 270-something to win. Paine another nothing innings, looked OK getting to 40 then chased a wide, slow, flat ball off a part-timer with no footwork straight to slip.
