I remember Ishants first tour here and he gave Ponting all sorts of trouble. Not sure what he ended up averaging that series but Punter was struggling against him.
Think it was the same series Agarka (spelling?) Had 4 first ball ducks and a second ball duck?
The 3 innings where be batted in the middle order he was a key player who came in and played the way the team needed. He is obviously one of the best batsmen in the world and as an opener can demolish teams, see his game against Zimbabwe, but he is also prone to having long down patches too. I think having someone like him come in 2nd or 3rd drop against an old ball makes us a significantly better team. We also have far more depth with our openers and have struggled to find a longterm middle-order batsman to bat with Stoinis and Maxwell.
He’s an opener, it has always been his prefered position. Also let’s be honest here, there is no such things as an old ball in T20’s. We also may have lots of options to open but most of them have been far worse than Finch.
England Sri Lanka test, I reckon 3 English wickets fell, that, when reviewed for front-foot no-balls, could easily have been given not out. And all from spinners - one left-armer, one right-armer. I reckon 1mm would be overstating it. Last time i heard the third umpire say benefit of the doubt to the bowler, and doubt there certainly was.
Of all inexcusable acts of play in cricket, slow spinners bowling no-balls is right up there.
Dickwella needs to learn about the rules of cricket. Like if the ball hits the batsmen anywhere or if a batsman plays and misses by half a metre, then it is not therefore out.
