A female police officer has allegedly been grabbed by the hair and punched in the head before police were attacked by a large crowd of more than 50 people in Western Australia.

The large group also smashed the police vehicle after the man was arrested for attacking the officer.

The man had been kicked out of the Pingelly Hotel, in Pingelly, in regional WA, at 1.10am on New Year’s Day when he yelled at police officers and was arrested.

At least three police officers were injured during the incident. Source: WA police

Police allege he began to violently resist, grabbing a female officer by the hair as he fell to the ground, causing her head to strike the ground, before punching her in the head.

Officers tried tasering the man but when it had no effect, they used capsicum spray before putting him in the back of a police van.

A crowd of about 50-60 people attacked the police vehicle, hitting it with rocks. Source: WA Police

Any truth to the report that Diggers was seen hastily exiting the scene?

You’re going home in the back of a divvy van

I hope he had an enjoyable 1 hour into the the New Year, coz the rest will probably be ■■■■■.

Divvy van must be a Victorian quirk because over here they’re known as a ‘meat wagon’.

Booooooooooooooooooooooo

I don’t think they’re divvy (divisional) vans in NSW either.

That’s a favorite summertime pastime in WA
for as long as I can remember. Getting the riot squad out for some fun and frivolity on a hot balmy night.

Surprised that it was a relatively low turn out this time of ‘only’ around 50 or so as in the suburbs it can range from about 80-200+.

Hope that the poor police who got injured recover quickly. Farkin’ ferals that they have to deal with is a disgrace.

Cops have got to get some perks in the job. Beating the suitcase out of these scumbags should be OK.

Yes, let’s hope that they got some retribution for their mates, in particular for that poor female officer.

Bloke who got arrested is a McGuire.

Not sure but could be related to John and Oral.

Tasering had no effect?

What did they use? A 12V battery?

These the tasers that Adam McPhee moved over there to flog?
If so, that probably explains why the suspect wasn’t affected and a cop was injured, the dickfingers controls.

That’s him.

Terrific 1st grade record and many believe that he should have made the WA XI. Some put it down to not being of the right ‘ethnicity’. Outstanding footballer also.

He was very keen to marry my ex-neighbours’ daughter way back when…she’d have to be 50 odd by now though. Loves the taste of wedding cake. Good sheila though.

Is McGuire a bit wild these days, or was this incident related strongly to ethnicity? I always assume trouble over there is from bogan Poms or Yoogs.
