I don’t know what the purpose of the update was, given there was no news and really, no update.
Lots of sweeping statements and general observations but I didn’t seem to obtain anything new from the letter.
I guess doing a letter to members is ticking a communications box, would’ve been nice to get something out of it we weren’t aware of.
I guess we can listen to Dave on SEN tomorrow morning and hope Garry & Tim unearth something from him. Fingers crossed for some post season expectations around what changes are coming etc.

He’s in a no win position with the way the team played the last 4 rounds. The omissions in that statement are pretty telling however. Just more intrigue at EFC…

Appreciate the communication but it’s nothing we don’t know. No mention of any changes to the recruitment department either.

I agree, and I think by and large he has, and he takes the time to list them.
I will forgive him the indulgence of a fairly reasonable letter to thank us and to fairly accurately sum up our season and reminding us of the extensive changes so far.
Dave meant the following statement last year and followed through, and I think he will follow through on it in this coming year too:
"We have invested heavily in player development and additional coaching resources and will be doubling down on this again next year.
There is a lot of work ahead. But this club is committed to doing everything properly, no matter how long that takes. Short-term fixes and sugar hits are not the key to long-term success."
If he just follows through on this, he is doing his job, and he has shown more capacity to follow through than any of our past presidents this millennium.

Well, there you go… phoned up on Monday last week to cancel my membership, by Tuesday this week (two days after the final game) I’ve been delisted. What about in the (extremely farking unlikely) scenario that Essendon was playing finals this year… would I still be a member at this point in time?
Members really are just wallets to this club, aren’t they?
Why do you think the fans are miserable. We don’t ask for much- just a competitive side week in week out, filled with players who look they actually give a damn. And people want to see a club that actually wants to get back to the top of the comp.
Essendon is lucky to have fans as passionate as all of us. For 20 years this club has delivered nothing but garbage. They haven’t even won ONE final, the majority of us just want to see us win ONE final-not even a GF but A final!!- is that really too much to ask?
Teams have won finals, bottomed out- rebuilt and gone past us over these 20 years.

not really a fan of being lied to, ‘we’re gonna explore our list’ yet all we know is weid sucks, kelly sucks in 4 positions, shiel sucks as midfielder and hff, they still wanna ply langford in defence. jones sucks again, snelling and guelfi -guess what? still suck. lav isn’t up to being a KPD, midfield balance sucks.
we dont know if tex could have added something different to the seniors, bladwins getting a game and dorpped for no reason, bryan gets 30% TOG.
did i mention weid and kelly suck?

The membership payment is monthly. So technically I’m a member for 2 more days…
Are they planning to refund me these two days?

As per the constitution your membership lasts until the end of the AGM unless you canceled in writing.
You’ve likely just been taken off an email list which seems more like basic customer service.
