Does it really matter what happens with results for the rest of the year?
FWIW, I reckon that at least during some parts of games they are playing better than the rubbish the BS coached team served up.
They are coming from a very very low base given the pathetic coaching, game plan and interest shown by the Removed.
If he had stayed, any new coach would be starting from even a worse position.

i dont think it matters who coaches these guys, they are horrendously lazy and revert to type in all games, we simply have to move on the players that are poisoning our crop of youngsters, if not it will just continue infinitum
We started the season (at least) 2 staff down. We are now at -5.
Carlton are at -1.
Perhaps the comparison is not as apt as you thought.
carlton were in a way different spot to us, they had been very competetive in all their games only losing narrowly in last qtrs, we absolutely would not want to be where carlton is as they appear to still be rating their list like we were 3 years ago, what carlton are doing now just means it will take longer until they realise they need to start again
It was 100% the right call to sack Brad
Now all the onus and spotlight is on the senior players. Now the new coach can see exactly who they are as players- so it should make it so much easier to make the call on them come seasons end
Who knows what questions are being asked - you can never hear them.
Seriously, AFL/channel 7 / Fox - how hard is it to set up a couple of microphones so we can hear the presser questions? They either don’t check what is being broadcast or if they do they don’t have pride in what they do.

GWS were abysmal too at their early stages and they had much greater talent than EFC currently enjoys.
I think it was good that we got rid of Brad when we did.
It was Welsh’s brainchild to parachute Solly into an assistant coach role, and if you can believe it, defensive line coach.
That did absolutely nothing to help Brad, unless you could somehow argue that Brad just simply wouldn’t listen to what Solly was saying.
So by giving Solly so much runway it gives him the opportunity to show his wears.

What would’ve been bad, is if Brad gets shafted a few weeks out from season end and somehow Welshy’s mate Solly get the senior gig on the back of minimal exposure.
He may be doing it tough, but it’s pretty clear all factors considered he isn’t achieving any noticeable improvement.
It depends on what the motive is/was. If it was that you’re afraid that Carlton (or Tassie) would steal a march on potential coaching candidates we’d like to speak to then yes, make that move. If it was that you simply wanted to see improved performances from the team and to see them playing in a better style more attuned to how modern footy is being then that hasn’t worked. I’ve not seen a significant shift in how we play and no discernible improvement in terms of effort or anything since Solomon took temporary charge.
And absolutely if this coaching “process” is nothing more than window dressing and you simply wanted to appoint Hird or whoever else, then you’d have been better off keeping Scott at least until the last month or whatever of the season so there’s less of a runway you have to negotiate until you announce the new hire.
Any option where BS was kept would have been even more catastrophic. He was destroying the club.
Solly is not having much success but then is that really what is needed right now?
Even so, there have been some good patches in the games he has coached. If he can stop some of the extended periods where the defence is absent that will be an achievement, given the understandable lack of motivation that must abound now.
The sooner the new coach is anointed, the better - so there will be a focus on the future and thankfully an end to the BS-NM mafia era (error).
i dont think Solly has any real chance of success given he’s got ■■■■-all support around him with half the coaches also being missing or being filled by temporary stand-ins

You can still be a bad team but play the right way, and in a way that can lead to success in the future. Richmond play in a way that is far more aligned to “modern” football. Taking the game on, forward handball, embrace chaos and contest, apply manic defensive pressure. Admittedly it was Scott’s last game in charge, but when we played them, to QT Richmond had 130m gained by hand, we were -11m. Completely the opposite.
Since that game has there been a huge shift in anything we were doing under Scott? No. Solly could’ve at least said that regardless of results, we are going to play the way the better sides do. An increase in pressure rating, metres gained by hand, front half tackles, play on % after a mark, etc. That’s what I wanted to see and I’m disappointed it’s the same old ■■■■ that’s being dished up. And selection integrity also still a shambles. Harry Jones should not be anywhere near a senior game. How has Parish been spared the axe but Setterfield plays one bad game and is omitted? As much as I rate Kako he’s done sweet FA since he returned, Huss outperforms him and is the one sent back to the VFL.
This, selection is utterley shambolic, its just unbelievable how bad it is and its no wonder the players dont give a ■■■■, there is just no punishment for lazy unaccountable football. It does my head in that this is the most fundamental way to build strong culture and it has been such a weak point for years
At a minimum, a Club will pick him up as a Rookie.
Until the issue with our underperforming senior players is addressed, I don’t think it matters who coaches.
If they dont want to be there, get rid of their toxicity. I’d take a bag of chips and a cold decaf servo coffee for some of them.
If El Hawli gets dropped, I’ll give up.
I watched Freo & Syd last night and they were all about Speed, Movement, Defence & Disposal Accuracy.
We are as slow as a wet week, so there goes the first one.
As for Movement our players simply don’t move when they haven’t got or aren’t near the ball. We don’t chase like the others, we don’t lead, we don’t run to offer an option, etc.
We defend terribly structurally and add our lack of leg speed and willingness to chase and man up and it all adds up to where we are now.
As for Disposal, the less said the better.
So Sunday we are going to play the best exponent of these things (maybe, apart from Freo), with a possible playing group including: Jones, McKay, Blakiston, Bryan, Caldwell, Parish, McGrath, Perkins & Wright.
The team selection this year has been terrible under both coaches.

And any new coach coming in who thinks they can turn the senior players around is delusional…… and will get him sacked within 3 years.
