Dempsey into the Midfield?

With the promotion of Dalgleish, will Dempsey potentially move up to the wing, or at least spend more time there in 2014.

 

I'm not just being reactive to the Dalgleish upgrade, as he doesn't have enough runs on the board to command a h.b.f just yet.

 

But, with Alex Browne pushing, and the recruitment of Edwards and Aylett, it would be a pretty damn good outcome if Dempsey could use his skills further up the field as he sometimes does.

Maybe all those Half Bank Flankers-Midfielders might pay off after all? ;)

Dempsey would go well in the midfield and Alex Browne when fit will slot in well across half back.

I think HBF is perfect for Dempsey. Dempsey, Hibberd and Pears providing attack from half back would be a real weapon for us. Of the three, Dempsey also has the ability to kick goals ensuring his opponent is accountable. Perfect.

 

This also frees Goddard up to permanently play between the wing and half forward.

We’ve had fark all outside mids for years. If he could play this role, he would have already.

If Dempsey was to be moved from half back, I’d kinda prefer to see how he went as a crumbing forward.

But really… Keep him where he is.

2 of the best HBF'ers in the competition. Both of whom are legitimate gamewinners for us and people constantly trying to move one or both of them into the midfield. The mind boggles.

Why not given, macartney said the bulldogs will be playing crameri in the midfield maybe we should just put everyone there to save them leaving to go to another club for more midfield time.

Last time he played midfield he racked up over 30 touches and then broke his leg while he was running in a straight line. True story.

Natural pregression for him is to string a full season of injury free football together.

 

He is utterly integral to our defense,, crumbing the ball and breaking through the forward press.

 

Utterly without reason to remove that from our team just because people think midfield is where the cool kids play.

Reckon he’d be better on a wing or a forward flank, than right in the guts. But very happy with him at half back. Was in AA form for first half of 2013
