Discussion/Changes v GWS - SAT 9th May @ 4.15pm

Or Wright sits on the bench like other 2 man ruck rotations.

I’m thinking hard about this - and I just can’t see a world in which Cox or Perkins offers more in the front half then Edward.s

Edwards has the footy IQ and goal scoring efficiency….when he isn’t on the wing.

We should play McKay as a forward in the twos.

Train him up to replace 2MP who is clearly our only decent ruck option.

I missed the game against the Lions (humblebrag)

Did Tom Edwards really play wing again? I thought I’d heard he was much more in the forwardline..?

I know this sounds a bit conspiracy theorist to say this but I reckon kondo only came in last week so that Brad could say we have our first four draft picks playing today

I see it a bit differently.

I don’t think Kondo and Johnson were competing for the same spot – Kondo was playing taller and Redman comes in for him. Johnson replaces El-Hawli as more of a rebounder.

I think May replaces Langford in the forward line, who returns to the wing or goes to half back (depending on where Jaxon Prior plays). That allows ADW to play forward in place of Gresham.

I think Perkins replaces Edwards in the high half forward role. Edwards has really struggled there, and in my view his strengths only really suit a key forward role. He’s not going to play ahead of Caddy or May, so it’s he or Cox – Edwards has more goal sense, but Cox was more physically competitive last week and is more versatile, so not a crazy call. I’m sure Edwards will be back at some point. It’s fair to question the Perkins call given he played midfield in the VFL, but it’s not like we have others in the VFL that have been playing a high half forward role either. To be honest, I really struggle with what Scott is trying to get out of that high half forward role – it feels like a role that gets stuck in no man’s land too much. It’s probably partly execution, but I think there’s a design problem too.

I agree with your take on Bryan – don’t think he’ll play big minutes and Wright will remain number one ruck. I think we’ll see Wright play a bit more forward than when Blakiston was supporting him, and they’ll just roll Cox up to the wing (which he’d done a bit of when he was in the VFL).

I might be an outlier, but I actually don’t mind these changes. I’ve been concerned about Blakiston’s form though, so not totally sold on him replacing McKay, but it seemed like McKay really needed a reset.

For all the talk that people don’t care about the club, things sure get heated at team selection.

There are certain people that would never admit to being satisfied with team selection.

Scott literally dropped our 4 worst players after a 11 goal loss and people still aren’t happy.

At this point don’t matter who he brings In or drops supporters just want him gone

by what metrics were they "the 4 worst " ? excluding the obvious in mckay

and by happy, you mean you want people to be happy for stuffing up team selection last week, in picking say a guy like kondo, who played poorly in the vfl, isn’t ready in anyway shape or form, shouldn’t have been picked last week, plays poorly, and NOW you want people to be ā€œhappyā€ that the coach drops him ?

gresham was dropped for a reason, then comes back in for one game, then dropped again for you guessed it, not playing well.

edwards would going ok in the forwardline, they then move him away, last week to accomodate cox, to which on paper their games look similar, but edwards makes way so cox can keep his spot.

parish comes back, despite us all knowing he wouldn’t be held accountable.

and perkins is just bog ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  average.

but you want people to be happy with that, right …
that there is why the club is so ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  cooked, such low expectations to what people should be happy about.

No real problems with the outs although Edwards has been stuffed around.
I’m not sure Redman and Bryan are ready yet but not going to complain too much about their inclusions. Perkins should be nowhere near this team though

100% this is pretty much the team he thinks will save his job short term

Experience and talks everywhere, his favourites in the team

Brad loves a quick sugar fix

I’m just staggered he didn’t pick setterfield as well

Give us some sensible team changes on a weekly basis, and I will very satisfied

If he was picking a team to save his job he’d drop all the fringe senior guys and play kids. Hide behind investing in youth argument.

He knows he needs wins or at least competitive losses to save his job

He is going with what he thinks will do the job. Amusing part is, it’s actually showing once again how he has no clue what he is doing. He is just too dumb to see it

Don’t rule it out just yet, he’s an emg.

Someone showed him Brisbane’s whiteboard and he based the outs on that

This is veering dangerously close to excessive tinkering for mine.
