DP3 & Essendon Vs Racists - ANZAC DAY MATCH 2021 REVIEW THREAD

Pretty crazy we put up 100+ with Hooker and Stringer taking 1 mark between them.

I thought Crisp was their best player and it wasnā€™t even close. Bloke scored at least one himself and set up numerous other opportunities with his run from defence. One of the few Pies players who consistently hit targets.

Especially when we win the disposal count by 20 and match the opponent in clearances.

Yeah, Crisp provided a heap of run for them, thought he was their best.

Good to see even in a win we can still give a spud a good game, hello Darcy Cameron.

Not sure on Sidebottoms stats but I thought his disposal was quite poor.

Jeez,itā€™s been a while since Iā€™ve seen a percentage of 45 on an AFL ladder. Roos you suuuuuuck.

And thatā€™s with the big free hit of getting Stephenson for basically nothing. Heā€™s probably been in their top 5 players this year and they only have him cos Collingwoodā€™s contract management was clownishly incompetent.

Thanks for finding that, I was trying to remember who it was and filth supporters were saying it never happened.

truck may have leanrt that 2MP cant ruck by himselfā€¦phillips should be in the team until draper comes back ā€¦and dont rush him ā€¦

tackle pressure the only thing that kept them in the game was our inaccuracy!

I heard that same blokeā€¦or some filth with the same comment

If it was the same one he started to cheer ā€œGrundyā€ when Philips marked in the pack just in from of him.

We started to cheer ā€œGrundyā€ each time he coughed to ball up to usā€¦there was a lot of cheering

I donā€™t think their goal kicking was that extraordinary. They took marks and got frees in easy spots.

They missed one sitter in the third, but the rest were goals that they should have kicked.

The only tough set shot I remember them taking was Mihocek in the last and he missed by a lot.

We missed a few set shots we should have kicked, but had some great ones from Peter, Smith and Tippa pulling them out of his backside.

Thank you kindly!

Sounds familiar actually, level 4 MCC?

Maybe someone should post that on Collingwood BF as a reminder. Gee it was great not to have all the 50-50s go against us for a change.

I should have mentioned Laverdeā€¦ Iā€™ve said it so many times but I was a wrap for him when we drafted himā€¦ really thought he was going to be very goodā€¦ may have (eeeeek) even suggested that him and Langford would temper the blow of draft penalties as they both look likelyā€¦ then he just struggled to get on the parkā€¦ and never had that development.

I was always happy that we persisted with him but really thought we could have let him go last year or the year beforeā€¦ and sometimes guys that have that many injuries just never ā€˜clickā€™ā€¦

But wowā€¦ could be the coaching move of decadeā€¦ just look better and better each game. So happy for him and so happy for the club.

Jury is still out of Langford and Laverde but he has now put 6 solid games in a row and yesterday was well above solidā€¦ very very excited and hopefully my early crow will pay off

He played on Tippa who kicked 5 goals. Your first job as a backman is stopping your opponent

My concerns going forward is that we are starting to see a bit of a trend:

Us dominating games but not putting it on the scoreboard.

  • Whole of Geelong pre season game

  • patches of hawks game

  • 3 quarters of Collingwood game

I know you and I have butted heads over this since pre-seasonā€¦ you (and many many others) are thinking our defense is goodā€¦ Iā€™m not sold.

I think our back six in isolation are doing a great job and I think we have a lot of cattle out. I think our midfield is pushing harder to create so much pressure around the ball. This is a big big tick from me.

I thought that despite looking shaky all dayā€¦ they ultimately held their nerve and we won BUTā€¦ our defensive structure still does not seem right to me.

I still think we are vulnerable to good ball movement and fast ball movement. I think our net hasnā€™t adjusted to the new rules which are creating faster ball movement and that is giving the opposition a lot of ā€˜man on manā€™ type situationsā€¦ good teams and good forwards will take advantage of this all day so we need to make an adjustment.

Iā€™m not saying it is bad or beyond repair or anything closeā€¦ but for me I would just like to tinker a little bit with our defensive structures to be more robust against better teams with better ball movement.

News from the AFL regarding the Protected Species list as regards Brodie Grundy:

  • No free kicks are to be paid against him.
  • He is to be given a minimum of 5 Free kicks per game.
  • He is never to be reported, or have 50m paid against him.
  • Maggots are required to call him sir at all times.
  • Opposition ruck men who break wind in his general direction, are to be reported, given 50m against them.

Remember Mr. Grundy is the reason people who are cerebrally challenged, without teeth and in possession of a Centrelink Card, go to watch Collingwood each week. It is good for 2021 style ā€œFootballā€ who most fans loath.

PS Free Kick count 23 to the team that lost by 24 points and 17 to the one that won it. Hard to do when you have 9 more scoring shots, more possessions, 30 more tackles etc, which suggests you have more possession of the Aget.

This is true, but you donā€™t go on and on about it; you politely ask the parent to see that it stops happening.
