Gold Coast, GWS and Brisbane can go and get farked. Those three pretty much have half of the top 30 picks.

Yep 13 of the top 30 to 3 clubs, all of whom the AFL actively want to succeed to attract rugby fans. Not suss at all.

It will get worse when Steele nets gws 10 Marchbank 5 and then gold Coast get 6 and 14

To be fair, most of those extras come from deals they did with other clubs. Had nothing to do with the AFL at all.

Don’t let the facts get in the way of a good whinge

The Ty Vickery deal with Hawthorn is reportedly worth $1mil over 2 years (WTF??) and will likely see Richmond receive pick 26. Meaning the pick we get from Melbourne for Pig drops down yet another spot.

Added the Vickery compensation pick (26). Absurd.

Proposed Hibberd pick out to 28? now and still yet to factor in Wells, Mayne compo and whoever else which may or may not fall ahead of Melbourne’s 2nd.

I think we now have a reasonable claim to ask Melbourne to upgrade our 4th Rounder (currently Pick 57) to their 3rd Rounder (currently 46), in addition to their 2nd Rounder for Hibbo.

Wells compo won’t affect Melbournes pick, only maynes

As if Melbourne will enter the draft at pick 57.

Brisbane maybe, the extra pick is fairly minor in the grand scheme. The other two clubs only have that much trade currency because of be ridiculous advantages they were given. That mass amount of quality will be paying dividends for years to come. Expect the expansion clubs to have a similar amount of picks each and every year, simply trading out to constantly top up.

I wonder if any clubs out of the top end of the draft are chasing later picks. If we are considering not using 37 and 55 we migh package them for a later pick next year?

Yes, deals that involved the selling of players they got from the massive numbers of first round priority draft choices.

Yep, fair call.
That swap probably only happens if we are willing to accept Melbourne’s 2nd Rounder from next year !

Updated with the Wells compensation pick (North, 32).

Updated with McCarthy deal (GWS get 3, Fremantle get 7, 34, 72)

Melbourne are trying to use the second round draft choice from next year. Great system, grab your player this year and hopefully pay less next year.

Can we get this pinned?
