This was pretty cheap and the moment I saw it I thought yeah I’m getting that. Haven’t tried it yet.
Order of preference left to right.
Redbreast far and away the best drop there, but too expensive to be a daily, better for special occasions. If I’m drinking it on the regular, it would be the Black Bush. First taste is a bit how’s ya father, but after that it is pretty smooth. Also doesn’t break the bank. Slane (not shown) is also decent.
After that, you inspired me. Let’s not forget about their Gaelic neighbours, who are slightly more famous for their versions.
You also shouldn’t ignore their offshoots from the land of the rising sun, maple leafs and kangaroos.
And finally, is it okay to finish what I had already purchased from those we should be boycotting?
That brings back memories; I used to like Bushmills but haven’t had any since Essendon had only 12 flags.
No Aberlour in your gaelic friends but plenty of glenfiddich.
The ones we should boycott range i do love a wild turkey, but gentleman jack is my least favourite.
For a cheap buy im a fan of buffalo trace, ballentines or CC12 whichever is on special at the time.
The Glenfiddich in the tin on the left I purchased back in 1989, just before my daughter was born. It is finally going to get opened in the next few weeks, as I was holding off until I retired. The 18yo was a chrissie present. Aberlour is one I have looked at a couple of times. I assume it is one you enjoy?
The higher proof Makers Mark is nice. For a cheapy, I really like Beam Black which is why there isn’t one there.
Will be looking at an Indian whiskey at some stage also.
If you’re going Canadian whisky then do yourself a favour and pick up a bottle of Spicebox if you can find it.
Punches well above it’s sub-$50 price tag.

Nom.
I was at the trade tasting for the Aus Spirit Awards today. The Fleurieu Whisky that took champion single malt was cracking.
The Tapestry?
Haven’t been down there in near on a year but the wife purchased some at the time. They have won numerous awards over the years
Yeah Tapestry for single malt and Bird for blended.
For those who like gin and are Vic based, the Dutch Rules stuff is top notch (and distilled by a fellow suffering dons supporter).
Lagavulin ftw
Now here’s a cunning way to hide your gin stash in the shed.
