When is training this week and next?
iāve wondered if dogs would recognise a dog from the telly if they saw it in person in dog
Random question (apologies if this isnāt the correct thread):
Anyone know a good cabinet maker in the south eastern suburbs?
Friend of mine has a small job that needs taking care of.
Thanks in advance. ā ā ā ā Carlton.
Ok, another random one.
This one goes out to anyone that has played senior footy, particularly those that have played at a higher grade or had leadership positions.
A player is lining up for goal. Maybe heās a kid, maybe itās in front of a big crowd or a shot after the siren. Whatever the case, the guy is gonna be a bit nervous.
What do you instruct him to do to regain his composure?
Havenāt played at a high level but channel Matty Lloyd. Have a set routine, concentrate and follow it everytime.
Dunno if A grade ammos in the 80s counts. Two options.
Non technique based - just about relaxing. 1) pick someone in the crowd and try and pretend you are playing kick to kick with them, and ignore everything else.
Technique based.
2) once you go into the kicking motion itself, ignore the goals (you will still sense/know where they are anyway). Focus entirely on the seam-cross on the top of the ball⦠with the ball as vertical as possible in the drop, make sure you kick right through the underside of the ball - directly under that seam-cross. If you just see the ball as a red blur your contact point can wander around. The cross gives you a target about 1 mm x1 mm to focus on - and forget about everything else (goals, opponents, everything. Just focus on the cross. Itās your friend. Itās not going anywhere except where you put it. At your timing.
Even if you are hitting a few bad ones in casual kick to kick, try focusing on the cross. Most people stop missing solid contact pretty much immediately. If you watch slow- mo of shots at goal, itās amazing how far off the ideal contact point even good kicks can be. If you make solid contact you will almost always kick pretty straigh
The homework before includes the drill Lindsay Gilbee described at a kicking coaching session I went to. Walk around the oval and every few steps drop the footy as though you are going to kick it, but donāt kick it. It should land dead in front of your kicking side hip, say 6-8 inches to the side of the plant-foot toe, and level with or just in front of the toe. A good one bounces straight back up. A bad one bounces any way but dead vertically back up.
Do that, add focussing on and hitting under the cross (thatās my tip - not from LG!) and you wonāt miss many.
Scrape the chewy off his boot.
(not footy, but i coach high level in another team sport) depends on a bunch of things, such as existing rapport, but iāll often crack a joke with them
two reasons
-
players often absorb the emotional state of their leaders. if i were worried about their ability, i would probably come across as nervous as well, compounding their nervousness. making a joke shows them that iām relaxed because of my complete confidence in them.
-
saying something unexpected can (not always, but it can) pull someone out of a negative emotional spiral. a daggy dad joke especially works well with young athletes. a laugh pulls them out of nervous mode and gives them a chance to āre-doā their emotional state.
āyou heard about that company that makes one metre rulers for classrooms? turns out theyāre not making them any longerā
Why does it take a few days to remove oneself from an email list?
My guess is if you can remove yourself, it would be instant.
If youāre waiting for some admin to remove you, it might have to wait until theyāre doing that job.
Iām talking big national / international companies hereā¦
I suspect that they probably run a script nightly (or whenever) from their database to update their mailout list. They probably donāt run a query every time they do a mailout.
Whats the main difference between traditional english mayo and Japanese Mayo (apart from country of origin)?
I know Japanese tastes better⦠but still.
Japanese use only egg yolk where traditional Mayo uses the whole egg. Japanese Mayo also use different vinegar types such as rice vinegar
Its delicious. Told my wife we are only using this from now on.
Yeah, my wife prefers using Japanese mayo as well.
My son prefers Japanese mayo. I reckon they are a touch too sweet.
Did the AFL silently relocate their photo galleries, or did they just give up posting them in February?
VFLW season incoming, so it might become relevant.
I had a French electric Mayo maker, egg yolk only, mixed with mustard and oil.
We are also renovating (started 1 March), and found a house to rent for 6 months. No agent involved, as we approached the owner direct. We were able to do this as our good friends live in the same street as the owners, and they mentioned to us that the owners had a vacant house, and introduced us. Basically, the previous renters had just left and owners didnāt know if they want to sell the house or rent it again, so I guess we were just a convenient option that allowed them to defer that decision for 6 months.
