Dumb Questions Amnesty

Did you ever play sport with people who talk about “that’s a bummer”.

Why are some sections of our population SO reluctant to use air conditioning on hot days?

I get that everybody feels heat differently and there are anxieties about energy bills, but is it really worth being hot, uncomfortable & miserable over an extra $4-$5 on your quarterly power bill on a 41 degree day?

Just baffles me.

Just say the nationality….

Only when I played squash with my hairdresser.

In order to get some kind of tax deduction or saving, what is to stop someone setting up hokey businesses to pay for normal expenses?

Say I set up a business that live streams me cooking. And I just film myself cooking for my family. Don’t care if anyone watches. The. Business buys the food.

Unboxing Lego channeL

I’m missing something here, but why can’t you just set up a business to cover some of your costs, and you legitimize it by filming and posting online.

It’s gotta make a taxable profit otherwise it’s classified as a hobby. Something like that.

I’m gonna guess you’re one of those people who buys unnecessary stuff at the end of the financial year.

Tell me you don’t love a good foot spa.

Check with a good Accountant but I reckon you would get away with that.

By good Accountant I mean one with an Italian sounding name who has lots of concretors for clients. There are plenty around in the suburbs to the north of Fark Carlton.

Nope, as pointed out it can’t be done, there are specific loss rules in place.

And there’s a big difference between creative accounting and straight out fraud.

Never has been, both are not legal.

It doesn’t stop “creative accountants”, most of them work for the large firms . It can be done, organisations have doing this stuff for years, not only with food but with many items they use for marketing purposes.

I joined in 2005 but it shows as joining in 2017. Was there a big site crash around that time?

Nah, major update that carried over users but reset (parts of) their clock.

Do people still say the word barmaid?
I do, but it did strike me as a bit of an archaic sort of word, which I mentioned to Mrs Wim and she said nobody says that anymore, hence my question.

I asked what people say then, and she replied ‘bar staff’, and I went ‘they do f’n not…’
But maybe they do?

It’s barman and barmaid for me, but maybe I should stop or I’ll get cancelled?

I don’t think anyone gets overly upset but yes it’s been bar staff for about 20 years here.

When I owned and ran hotels back around that period I can remember that barmaid was being phased out but barman was still used

So I guess “chick behind the bar” is right out?

New KFC ad

“There is always that one mate who bringsa salad to a bbq), then there is me who bring KFC”

Wouldn’t it be worse and insulting to the host to bring KFC (a main meal) as opposed to a salad (a side)?
