Love those things. Woolies stocks them when they’re available, but they can be hard to find once the prime summer/autumn season is over.

This is more for advice than Dumb Question but no other thread that I can see for it.
Been offered a job, FT (5 days on site) extra $15k a year, 10-15 minutes from home.
However.
Currently working 4 days a week (with 1 WFH), 20 minutes from home, get an extra week of leave and 13 RDOs (pro-rata so effectively 10). The pay is good so while I get more at the new job, the hourly rate is actually lower. Plus at the moment im at a NFP whereas the new job is a family business (not my family). NFP has an EBA so we get pay increases in accordance to that whereas nee job wont have that
Have two young boys so the day off helps.
But the extra $15k…..thoughts?
Is the NFP a charity? The tax implications of that are enormous.

There’s more than 15k available to you (possibly) in tax benefits etc.

No, not a charity.
Assuming all else is equal re job satisfaction, probaby go with the one that gives you more time with your young sons.
No matter how much $$$ you get now, you can never buy that time back. That is, in 20 or 30 years you would be wishing you had have ahd more time with them, rather than the $ differential.

As well as what others have said. If the hourly rate is less, then it doesn’t sound so good.
I don’t know what you do but could you pick up a cashie or something for a day a week when your kids are in school which might give you the $$ and more flexibility.
would $300(ish) more per week add more value to your life than the extra day off currently does?
for what it’s worth i recently made the jump from nfp to commercial for more money but less flexible working hours and absolutely love it. i feel so much more trusted to get on with things rather than stakeholder-engagement-ing everything to death.

I’m an accountant and do bookkeeping on the side. I’ve just been helping mates/mates-of-mates set up their business on Xero, train them up and then send them on their way. Haven’t really put much time into it, probably should now. Ive always just relied on word of mouth, wouldn’t even know where to begin to get people on board.
That’s what I’m trying to work out.
I love where im working and if I had 4 more hours (ie: .9FTE rather than .8) then it’s a non-issue. It’s pretty relaxed, rock up in decent pants and a work sweatshirt, work polo underneath.
Doesn’t matter what time I rock up as long as I do the 8 hours. Getting them off pen&paper and into automation is the hardest part of the day.
Yeah, leaning towards that.
Probably best to just try and find an extra 4 or so hours a week than quit altogether and take the other job.

Is The Mixed Grill still an item menu in Australian pubs? I feel like it used to be. But now I cant remember seeing it for a long time. Maybe I’m not looking for it. Maybe I’m just craving one. Regardless, they’re epic.

As the Professor said, time with kids is a bonus especially when they are young.
$15,000 after tax is, well you are the Accountant so you know. As you get older and you get time to ponder your life, sometimes you have regrets. Could be time with family or could be missed opportunities in your career. Depends on your priorities and while I rarely regret much at all, maybe my relationship with my kids could have been better if I spent more time with them.
Guess at the end of the day, depends how much you need the extra money.

I think they have chicken tenders. The RACV City Club used to have a slice of liver in the 70s. But usually, it’s a chop, a bit of steak, a snag and bacon, maybe an egg.

They seem to be rare.
I remember going out on a date with a lady years ago who was a vegetarian. She was a touch horrified at my mixed grill order, what with it being half a cow, third of a sheep and quater of a pig…oh and some chicken embryos. Not even a roasted tomato could render salvation.
