Dustin Martin is Chopsticking with Richmond

Hes a total braindead off the field.

but on the field he protects his teammates, picks every single one of them up before balls up, terrific teammate just from observation and gives his all every game.

Apart from ■■■■ hair, tats, inability to pay a bill and just not being all there in the head. I don’t see anything particularly wrong.

BJ is on a huge wicket isn’t he?
That contract ends this year then you throw in Jobe and a few others plus the increase in TPP next year of 20%. Should have miles of room even after re-signing Joe and Paz

The problem with Martin is the player welfare resources he consumes.
He is basically a moron as far as day to day life is concerned, and needs management and assistance to a truly stunning level. He costs ninthmond a hell of a lot more than just his salary. Any club that bids for him needs to be absolutely certain they are willing to commit to that side of things.

Would you expect the likes of BJ, Jobs, Stants, Hicking, ect to take pay cuts?

If they do and we can Bring in Dusty and JJ put your house on us

I’d say 2 of those 4 are definitely looking at the retirement decision being made for them.

Or at the very least, minimum contracts.

Wow my auto correct just renamed half our players

I thought BJ was on a heavily backended salary and he was on nearly $700k this year. He would be getting half that next year and I’d be surprised if the other 3 are all here next year and if so it would be heavily reduced

They will be lucky to be on the list let alone being offered pay cuts.

Jobe will prob pack it in and the other 2 delisted. BJ looks like the only one playing on imo.

Jobe and Stanton would free up 800+ easy

So going full lid off we could be looking at

Out: Hocking(del), Howlett(del) Jobe(ret) stants (ret)
In: Dusty, JJ, Jones

Fap Fap Fap?

The way the TTP is used in these arguments is just wrong, imo.
The increase will simply mean that contracts signed from that date will take it into account - there will be more money, spread around. Contracts will get bigger, therefore the pressure stays the same. It’s not like all of a sudden everyone can afford another couple of guns on their list. The players haven’t been fighting for this for farking ages, just so the can give the money away to some jock, while their own salary stays constant. FFS.

ESSENDON has joined the ranks of clubs interested in Richmond superstar Dustin Martin, but the club is yet to determine whether it can afford to make a huge offer for the free agent.

Sources have confirmed that the Bombers are interested in Martin, who is seen as fitting their needs, but that they have yet to table an offer with his management.

Essendon’s salary cap position — and whether the club can find the space to accommodate the match-winning midfielder/forward — will determine whether they go ahead and, like an aggressive North Melbourne, make a huge long-term offer for him.

The Dons are understood to have been in contact with Martin’s manager, Ralph Carr, who has said that a decision on Martin’s future has been put off until the end of the season.

The Bombers have made re-signing their young talent — including emerging stars Joe Daniher and Darcy Parish — their priority and they also have a number of older players coming out of contract, including Jobe Watson, David Zaharakis and Brent Stanton.

Daniher is out of contract at the end of 2018 and is certain to receive a major increase in his next deal. The club has been in talks with Zaharakis’ management about a new deal.

Essendon’s salary cap position is greatly assisted by the 20 percent rise in the cap, but this is also true for Richmond, which now recognises that it will likely need to pay Martin around the $1m mark per season over a long term to keep him, having initially offered him more than $800,000 per year.

The Bombers consider that Martin fits their needs, given that they are well served in the key positions and for big-bodied midfielders, but, like many teams, have a need for a midfielder with breakaway power and speed.

Richmond, which meets Essendon in the Dreamtime game on Saturday night, remains confident that Martin will stay at Tigerland in 2018 and beyond.

The industry view is that it will be difficult to shift Martin because a club needs to comfortably exceed what the Tigers are willing to pay, which means well over the million dollar per season mark.

Essendon is interested in other seasoned players with outside running ability — including young Sydney midfielder Zak Jones.

As Fox Sports reported on May 11, North Melbourne is making a strong bid for Martin, at the same time that the Roos are pursuing GWS’ Josh Kelly on a nine year of at least $9m. The Kangaroos are hoping that Martin’s close friendship with Roo defender Marley Williams — in addition to their long term offer, which is likely to exceed Richmond’s — will enhance its chances of persuading him to become a Kangaroos.

The Bombers retained key players Michael Hurley and Cale Hooker on lucrative five-year contract extensions in their year out of the game last year and have emerging gun Zach Merrett and captain Dyson Heppell secured.

Jobe is on $800k himself and highly likely done.

Stanton. Hocking. Howlett. Are all def done.

Kelly if he played on would be on minimum chips.

Goddard will go again, but on reduced $$.

We will have plenty of room!

Still can’t see it happening but we have chased him for a number of years. And to be able to replace Jobe with Dusty would be amazing.

Yes please

I don’t want to touch any of the FAs this year

The salary cap change means that 17 clubs are going to be throwing around money like dickheads, we will inevitably over pay

Sign our players and hit the draft
