The earth is getting a few big ones of late, maybe ‘the’ big one is just around the corner.

When Yellowstone goes it will be massive. I suspect it will set off earthquakes all over the world of size we might not have seen before.

10km is pretty shallow.

That is what some geologists and seismologists predict, but all seem to agree that it is 1000 years or more away.

I have no idea how big Kangaroo Island is… the shown quake is 9km from Kangaroo Island?

Probably 9km north of the geographical center of the island.
It’s a big island!

Looks to be near Parndana. They had a 3.6 magnitude quake there about a fortnight ago

The death toll from a powerful earthquake in the central Philippines approached 60 on Wednesday, with injured patients overwhelming hospitals on the island of Cebu as workers carried dozens of body bags away in the chaotic aftermath.

The shallow magnitude 6.9 quake struck at 9:59 pm (1359 GMT) Tuesday off the island’s northern end near Bogo, a city of 90,000 people, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).
