I have been to Flores twice. The first time on a fishing boat in 1993. The second time 2 years ago when l flew in. Labuhan Bajo is one of the most magnificent harbours anywhere in the world. The first time there were perhaps half a dozen other fishing boats in harbour, these days there are dozens of Bugis boats, all there for the tourist trade to see the Komodo dragons. Even the new airport is designed to look a little like a dragon. Full speed ahead for the exploitation of the big lizards and other features of the area.
In Labuan Bajo; after a couple hours I had my bags and a new ticket to Ende for tomorrow.

People living in Sydneyâs southwest have been left shaken today after a 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck the area.
As on Friday afternoon, just under 400 people had submitted reports of having felt the impact to the government website, with people describing feeling as though somebody had crashed into their home.
According to the Geoscience Australia website, the quake struck shortly after 1pm AEST, near Appin.
My wife informed me yesterday of some major volcanic activity across Indonesia, including Krakatoa, Sinabung (near her hometown Brestagi, Sumatra) and around Labuan Bajo. There are others as well. Krakatoa is the concern, affecting flights in/out of Djakarta.
Yeah, Singapore Airlines and Scoot have temporarily cancelled their flights to Jakarta.
