Easton Wood Speaks Out On Gambling In Sport

If I had my way I’d level Crown, flemington racecourse and every pokies joint in the country. Gambling is a scourge that must be destroyed.

Been said before in this thread, the only reason they don’t is because when they tried they made bugger all out of it. Look up ‘Kanga Kasino’ for a laugh.

To be fair, North Melbourne don’t make a cent from anything

[quote]Gambling advertising to be banned during live sporting events

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has confirmed the Government will ban gambling advertising before 8.30pm during live sporting events, and for five minutes before and after the start of play.

ABC News revealed last month that the plan had been taken to Cabinet.

It faced a backlash from the executives of some of the nation’s biggest sporting codes, who argued restricting gambling advertising would slash the value of the television rights their codes attract.

But speaking in the United States before his flight back to Australia this morning, Mr Turnbull said the plan would go ahead.

“Parents around Australia will be delighted when they know that during football matches, and cricket matches, live sporting events before 8:30pm, there will be no more gambling ads,” he said.

"There are no gambling ads allowed before 8:30pm generally, but there’s been an exception for a long time, of live sporting events.

Executives from the AFL and NRL had been lobbying Communications Minister Mitch Fifield to scrap the plans.

ABC News had also been told Cricket Australia was pushing against the change.

It’s quite interesting how they do this, and just end up with a high % of losing betters.

Scum of the earth.

Casinos have been banning card counters since forever, because they win too much. This is no different to that, really.

The gambling industry isn’t interested in risking their OWN cash on risky bets. That’s what customers are for…

I’m comfortably ahead on sports betting.
It’s all the other forms of betting I suck at.
It takes a looooot of $8 multis before you’re behind on a 1k payout.

Good on that bloke for speaking out.

If Collingwood are you be commended for anything, aside from exploding the Medicare denture allowance, it’s the removal of gambling revenue.

Although whist fat Ed is still in with demetriou the hutt and co who knows for sure.

Over 30 years ago, I got banned for counting cards while playing Blackjack at Darwin Casino. I didn’t know it was not allowed, the reason I was banned was that they were playing with 6 decks and they were only supposed to use 5 and in my card counting I queried why there were so many Aces !!

A friend got banned at Crown for taking a record of results on a roulette wheel. He had worked out a system that slightly put odds in his favour depending on how either red or black fell.
anyway he was banned and his records confiscated.

I never expect to win or that gambling is fair.
