“Easy” win versus the Gold Coast Sins - discuss

We seem to set ourselves for the team we’re playing, in the sense that we think: let’s play as ■■■■ as them and see if we can still win. Unrecognisable as the team that played last week, etc.

It wasn’t a good win, but it was a win interstate, and that’s always good. We were lucky not to be blown away when GC were dominating in the first half, but I guess that’s what happens when your opposition is poor.

McNiece and Long showed yet again why they should not be in the team. And Baguley showed why he should, although there will no doubt be idiots who will say he’s too old, slow, etc.

Langford has been playing very well, but he really needs to kick the set shot goals.

Heppell continues to lead by example, getting the ball out again and again. And Zerret played a great game.

I’m a McKernan fan and tonight he didn’t let me down. It’s the way he does the unexpected.

The rest were okay. I’m glad we won. We didn’t look like worldbeaters.

We had a lot of players out. Winning is important first. Winning with style is secondary at this stage

Langford did a lot of good things, and he even smiled twice - once in the second quarter and again in the rooms after the game.

Dea again solid across half back

McNiece - please never again and Colyer needs a “rest”

Nah. Could easily have done both. Easily.

Fair to say that our forward structure is probably suffering a bit because of all the players we spent all pre-season training with as our forward line, only tippa is currently actually there. Daniher, Stewart, Fanta, Stringer, Green, Hooker - injured or in the backline or in the VFL. All year we’ve either had a gimped forward line or an improvised one. Still doesn’t excuse repeatedly kicking directly to the opposition fb, but it’s a factor to remember…

We got a game into Parish and he’ll be better for the run, and he did some good work even though he only had one week back in the VFL after a long lay-off, so that’;s good.

Ok, that’s as positive as i can be right now. Back to your regularly scheduled gloom.

We nearly doubled their score FFS

Why are you talking as though that was a crappy small win.

Yeah it was still in ugly win, but we pumped them

Was confident we would win.
A lot of our players beat there opponent. Still struggling kicking goals, looked better when Langford was a target as well up forward.

Hope match selection make some changes next week as there were a few passengers.

Players must go
McNeice, Goddard, colyer

To come in Fantasia, Francis and Ridley.

Long was ok, seemed a bit scared to be caught holding the ball so did a few knock ons etc.
He will be better for the run.

Maybe but 4 points was the goal at the start of the game and we got it.

If only we had a talented young player who specialises in intercept marking across half back on our list…

or Matt Dea also

First half sums it up for me. They had what 15 of 17 inside 50’s at one stage? They’re playing with a 4th string team with a few 3rd stringers and only inaccuracy stopped it from being an utter embarrassment. Our game plan of bombing it long to the square every single time was a failure and our kicking inside 50 was hilariously bad.

Goddard is just about done, seeing him get outmarked by a 3rd gamer was enough for me. He’s gave his all but the inconsistent efforts are becoming worse and worse and more common. Colyer put in another failure of an effort, his 3 games have been pathetic. Long was poor, McNiece again has failed to show me anything at senior level. Brown is the very definition of plodding forward but reckon he could be a regular at Carlton next year. Basically our first half was the most pathetic display since our last most pathetic display against another sh*t team. Got heaps of the ball but was utter shithouse and had poor awareness and poor skills and stupid decision making. I don’t take any joy from struggling to beat the 2nd worst side in the league.

Second half was better. Funny thing is we still could have won by 10+ goals if we’d kicked straight/taken our chances. Zerrett actually used the ball properly, Heppell’s dominance took over, Smith was Smith, Langford’s second half was much better than his first and he’s developing nicely, one of the few positives this year . Guefli has another outstanding last quarter and I’m happy to see Parish at least kicked the ball as much as he handballed it for once. Dea always puts in, I like him, you get honest effort just with Baguley. Give me honest toilers over sporadic pick and choosers like Colyer. Have no idea why Francis wasn’t played but the sooner we get games into him, Ridley, Clarke, Mutch & Redman the better. One of the few good things is 4 out of 5 wins on the road.

F@rk, seriously.

Crap first half of season but we’ve strung some super games together with two loses to teams 1 & 2. Could have beaten the Pies.

So we played ■■■■ in the first half. At least
t we didn’t Essington. We didn’t. We came out and out worked them and won by 50.

Farking smile carnt.

There are a few guys in the team not up to it at the moment and 1 or 2 regulars who need a rest.

Annoyingly there aren’t many ready to come in at the moment.
Francis really the only one. I haven’t been frothing like most of this forum about him, but Goddard needs a rest next week and Francis should come in.

I’m not a Laverde fan but i’d give him one more in the VFL then get him in.
Hopefully Fanta is ready soon and Zaka.

Would think about bringing Green back next week for Colyer or Long
