We would be stuck with hiring the likes of Brendon Lade and Robert Harvey becuase no decent assistants or senior coaches would want to apply.

We would have had Clarkson but he saw what a ■■■■ show our board was so he took the North job

Yep, he opted for the well-oiled machine that is North.

Well…
This is evolving into the ‘this club is farked’ thread.
Took a little longer than I thought it would. Blitz really is failing to meet expectations.
Expecting more of the same type of posting as voting comes to an end and even more ‘emotional’ when the winners are announced. Some poster is bound to be banned for their outburst.

It’s awful. I hate hating the club. I hope I am wrong and the club can turn it around. All the negativity isn’t good for any of us.

Whoever is elected, please turn this club into something we can be proud of.

We would never have got Clarkson. And he was 100% the wrong fit for us, so I’m not at all sorry about that.

Bomber achieved 12 wins, 9 losses and a draw with a % of 106.

Woosha had us 12 wins and 10 losses in each of 17,18 and 19. It’s abit unfair to drag his record down by including 2016.

While I sympathise with what you say, it’s not what we need. Essentially that’s what Barham said and did, but it wasn’t enough.

The club needs a real leader who knows what he’s doing, or to be precise, two leaders who see eye to eye and know what they’re doing, one on the Board and one coaching the team.

incorrect. the best outcome is that a motion to dissolve the club gets passed

Just feeds into our messiah complex.
One or two people will not fix it all.
It’ll take time. And it could take a group of twenty people being on boards across five years to do it. It’ll be a collective effort.

We just needed to start the first few steps which I believe happened a few years ago. Whatever path we were on then, didn’t seem right. 2022 was an absolute disaster. In every way shape and form. Right from the first five minutes of round 1. We’ve reset and set a base. Some would prefer to race to the bottom, others differ. Whether we like it or not we’ve set a standard.
Now it’s a matter of continually improving everywhere possible and hopefully making more good decisions than bad and improving our standards across time.
I think any of the candidates can actually contribute positively to the situation.

I don’t think starting again will resolve anything. Just set a different base to build off. It may be better, it may be worse.
We won’t know until after the fact.

There are no assurances this will be turned around and we’ll win a premiership in 3 to 5 years time. We’re really coming from a long way behind the rest of the competition. In more metrics than just finals wins and losses. I hate to repeat a Scottism, but we may improve, but the rest of the league will improve too. So we need time to bridge the gap and then overtake them. I don’t think Scott will be our premiership coach, but he’ll help in other ways to set standards and hopefully we pass over to a coach who builds off that base.

It’s pretty clear that fans just don’t see it though. And probably never will see any good in our club until a premiership is won. It is what it is. Richmond’s 2017 is a good example of fans still fearing the worst even though results show otherwise. Geelong 2022 is another example. There are plenty more, but those two come to mind more often than others.

Sorry I’m just reading through todays posts and this caught my attention

I can safely say that under Rutten I’ve never been as disinterested and frustrated as a fan of this club. I’m 30 years old, so fair to say I’ve seen plenty of ■■■■ over the years. Football under Rutten, and his pre and post game pressers almost turned me off the sport. Everyone whinges about how we turfed him, if the bloke was a football coach in Europe, he wouldn’t have even survived till the end of the day after the rd 1 disaster against the cats

How apathetic is the fan base that these are the candidates we get. Have people stopped caring?

For a club that was so big in the 90s, we should have a shitload of experienced proper board candidates who love the club and are of the age and demographic to be on the board.

Maybe they’re smart enough to just get co-opted and not go head to head with ex players, but there just doesn’t seem to be anyone with the passion, executive and governance experience who would make a good president.

“I stand by my record of failing to attract a coach who would have been awful for us”

Should we approach the bench?

We probably could have got Clarkson if we made a clean, quiet and early approach. I reckon that’s what Barham wanted in May 2022.
