EFC Board

Both are massive upgrades on their predecessors. Love both appointments. Feels like we’re finally getting the right boardroom mix. Just need to see the back of that Collingwood ■■■■■ Dorothy Hisgrove.

Nope he’s back in Melbourne. Has been since he retired from footy. Mind you Solly was on the board while living in northern NSW.

Think Ted used to have an investors podcast from memory. I listened to it a lot during the lockdowns. Seemed like a smart bloke.

Welcome To Essendon, lots of ■■■■■■■■■.

You’re mixed up. Bolton is in Vozzo’s team in the Executive as Head of Strategy. He’s not on the board. They are different things.

I’ve been vocal and consistent in my disapproval of Welsh’s appointment and ascension, but these last two appointments seem great.

So Andrew Muir is not running but O’Sullivan is:

Ms O’Sullivan and Mr Welsh will be standing for election and nominations for other candidates remain open until Wednesday 12 November 2025. Further information about the nomination process is available on the EFC website

Anybody running against them?

For some reason Sheedy didn’t like him. That’s the only explanation I can think of. He insisted on playing him at centre half forward, which he was totally unsuited for and couldn’t kick goals. In the VFL he played at CHB and performed consistently well, to the point where he would force his way into the seniors. But Sheedy would then play him in the forward line and drop him a week later. No wonder he left and went to Sydney. They played him at CHB and he played 228 games for them, including the 2012 premiership, where his last quarter on Buddy Franklin (then at Hawthorn) was vital.

He seems smart, too. Excellent addition to the Board. I’m just surprised that he agreed to come, given the treatment he received.

That’s done and dusted- he’s too smart to allow that old stuff get in the way of engaging in the Welsh vision and ethos.

Yes, i used to listen to it too. It was very good and not really about investment at all. It was more a talk to interesting and smart people to see how they tick and how they got to where they are.

He did a very good interview with Welsh.

Deep thinker is Teddy. The podcast is called the Richards Report

Sells surgical equipment, I can give you his business card?

From the horses mouth - Sheeds didn’t like me because he thought I had had it easy going to a private school - despite Sheeds’ son been in the same year at the same private school.

Sheeds refused to take Ted’s call after he was trade. Had his PA return the call.

Sheeds didn’t rate him as a player though, even if his views ultimately proved wrong.

The key moment that actually ended his Essendon days was when he was felled from the side by a Cats player in that 2004 Semi Final and knocked out. Sheeds said he had no peripheral vision and he wouldn’t have a career at Essendon as a result.

Sheeds also preferred to play Henneman over Ted

I thought that Sheedy was determined to make Richards a forward. So in his Bomber years he had such stiff opposition for a forward role. Ted had opportunities in the four years he was on our list, he just didn’t make the most of them.

Just watching the interview with Ted Richards. It’s pretty clear that this a pretty decent appointment.

Having a director of football who was an integral player in the success at Sydney, and then talking about bringing that type of high performance culture to Essendon is really important.

Even just his experience in business and finance, will be a good asset.

I’m usually pretty sceptical about Board appointments, especially of past players….. but I think Richards is a high qualified person, and potentially even a future President.

I blame Brad Scott

He was consistently played out of position. He was never a forward. He was never given an opportunity to play in the backline for the seniors.

“I’m not here to reminisce I’m here to contribute”

Gee he was impressive seems like a really good choice well done Welshy
