Training this morning in perfect conditions but with a number of players rested until the main session on Friday. These included Goddard, Baguley, Zerrett, Gwilt, Tippa, Zaka, Stokes, Kelly, Cooney, McKenna and Dea. It appears at present that those unavailable this week will be Francis, Laverde and Morgan.
The session concentrated on tackling, shepherding/blocking with full ground practice of ball movement drills from defence to full forward. It is evident that there is a fair bit of competition going on between groups of players for particular spots in the team for the upcoming ANZAC Day clash. For instance, Crowley v Bird v Simpkin, Kommer v Dempsey v McKenna.
While it was a lighter session with some of the bigger names missing it was positive in the quality of the training level produced by those on the track.
Now for some pics…
Michael ‘Harts’ Hartley warmed up with a bit of “Knees Up Mother Brown”
The Langford and Raz were involved in “crossover” leads and sprints. Langers seemed to enjoy this exercise and was upbeat throughout the session.
“Hey Craig. You realise you’ve pinched my position in the team. Don’t get complacent. I’ll be back!!!”
“What the hell have I got myself into? The Bird’s waiting for me!”
“…and just where do you think you’re going young Ashby?”
Crowls attempts to hand off to Parish whilst under pressure from Edwards and Ashby.
Darcy does a fierce Haka in an attempt to put Shaun E off his game.
Another great report, KB. I know it’s been said often before, but these reports are hugely appreciated by me and many, many others. And the pics.
Dempsey really looks as though he has a point to prove. It would be really interesting to know what has (apparently) changed his entire attitude. He’s always had potential and he’s always had pace. If he has finally added dedication and concentration then he may be quite a player.
I’m just gunna put it out there, and suggest that the below pic is the reason why the female contingent of Blitz have been unusually quiet posting wise, over the past 24hrs…
