Close in Poland too.
The centrist seems to be ahead, but a runoff will be required.
The hard right candidate got 15%, where or if his supporters vote in the 2nd round, presumably to the conservative candidate might decide it.

Horrible choice of colour in that graphic. Red equals centrist and blue equals far right, that hurts my brain.
Overton window, baby.
The Romanians in Germany vote is amusing. The far right AdF would love to ship all the Romanians back to Romania.
As someone who just voted in these elections, Iâm not exactly in a state of mourning.
Catherine Connolly, a pro-Palestine, left-wing candidate, secures 63 percent of the vote to defeat centre-right rival.
The Irish President has no real legislative power or authority, and the current Government is a coalition of Fianna FĂĄil and Fine Gael who are centre right Parties with the next election not due until January 2030. However there is conflict between these two Parties and it is doubtful it will survive its full term.
Excellent news. Now bring on the fight between Feel & Fall and Fine Gal, so thereâs a general election and a chance of a real government.
Couldnât imagine Fine Gael and Fianna Fail teaming up. It was only 100 years ago they were shooting each other, and the Irish have long memories.
Fianna FĂĄil supported a minority Fine Gael-led government fro 2016 to 2020; since then theyâve been in coalition, rotating the Taoiseach position (PM) between each other, year in year out, so at present theyâre as together as Libs and Nats are here.
Catherine Connolly is 68 years old. She was a member of the small Irish Labour Party for years, but left in around 2007, after a disagreement on policy. Sheâs been an Independent ever since. She is pretty left-wing, too left-wing for Irish Labour - in Australian terms, sheâd make Alboâs Labor Left look truly right-wing. Sheâs a committed democratic socialist, a strong supporter of Palestine independence, and of Irish neutrality. We could do with someone like her here in Australia.
Look her up in Wikipedia.
Descendant of James Connolly?
He was a firebrand.
I think its resolving to the splitters (Fianna Fail and Fine Gael) and the true believers (Sinn Fein).
[AIUI, Fine Gael is pro-treaty IRA, Fianna Fail anti-treaty IRA, and Sinn Fein various versions of the continuing IRA who refused to have any electoral association with the Irish Free State before all constitutional ties to the UK were cut]
Of course he did.
