Electric Motor Vehicles

You know a standard extension cord will do the job. Just will take longer.

Eventually it will be at pubs, supermarkets, on street poles, Bunnings. everywhere. Places will need to have it to attract customers. It will just take a little time to get there.

Got a quote for ev charger in block of units in Port Melbourne. $1500 including charger, just have to get Owners Corp to agree.

Yah some is fine. Itā€™s not all.

Between 10-20k at mine.(I think someone else has a quote for close to 20k)

Because basically electricity needs to be run underground to the parking.

They had a short lived nsw grant program where the government would be I think 80% up too 100k. But the program was oversubscribed before I could convince enough people to pay.

Noones keen when you have residents on fixed incomes, bills for other maintence etc.

Thatā€™s less than what I paid for purchase and installation of a Zappi charger. Say $1,200 plus $800 for installation.

Tesla charger is $750 plus $750 installation. It is underground carpark and power is there is abundance to run the car stackers.

THere is a trial somewhere, Sydney i think, where they are attaching them to power poles around units etc. Will try to look it up

the korean automakers are killing it at the moment

Yeah I guess that might work.

Everyone doesnā€™t need their own charger in an apartment block. But probably more than 1 for some.

I mean if the goal is to have everyone charging.

Then the other issue is just getting access to cheaper rates.

In suburbs with terraces itā€™s a fugazi. I can only imagine what a charger in every spot on the street?

Copped it from my Tesla owning brother in law.

Silly me tried to pull the boot door down like a normal person instead of pushing some invisible button.

Tesla are like Apple for me. Iā€™m an android user and ā€˜hateā€™ the iphone and all apple products BUT I appreciate that without them all of these amazing products wouldnt be at the level they are.

Im happy Tesla pushed the limits and its telling that every new car is compared to model 3 or Y.

The new model Y looks like a great car and their charging network is second to none.

Call me weird, but I just get this ick over their 2 tone door handles.

Just looks stupid.

Which most think would pale into comparison with their man child Nazi saluting founder.

I just canā€™t stand them. Can you option them out?

For a while there, no one could stand them, as recently as last century our forefathers optioned out. But theyā€™ve been emboldened of late.

Car rental companies used to provide the option of electric cars, but I just tried to book and none of them do this any more. Just ICE or hybrids. It was good not having to find a servo to fill up before returning the car, but it looks like that we canā€™t have nice things.

Where you going ?

Some great deals for renting a Tesla model 3, $55 a day in many Australian cities, though in Perth they are $70.

Melbourne. None of the major rental companies offer electric cars as of my check this morning. (for rental this weekend - maybe they have all been booked already?)

I flew up to Sydney last week and was given an EV as my hire car. Was through Hertz.
