Elimination Final vs Footscray - Sunday 3 September 2017 @ North Port Oval - 83 unpaid tackles

Was actually a lot of fun in the last quarter, good vibes live and we nearly got the win. That stupid B.S. “not behind” or “out on the full” ended the day.

Kudos to the Footascray fans who were generally fairdinkum. It’s good watching footy in Victoria where people know most of the rules.

I really enjoyed watching the game.

Are the rules different in the VFL? I only remember seeing one holding the ball decision yesterday. There would have been at least 20 if it was an AFL game.

Yep. This years trading opportunities for experienced big body midfielders seem to be drying up. The way things look, Langford will get plenty of games in our midfield next year, starting round 1.

I’d been on the VFL team since pre-season to win the whole thing. Was hoping to cash out but they never got low enough for me to make a profit.

I think they were easily one of the most talented lists and our VFL only listed players (Boyse, Hind, Peters, Holmes) were quite talented and should be picked up by other clubs in the upcoming drafts.

I think we will look back and wonder in a few years how this team wasn’t able to maybe not win the VFL flag but at least progress further.

I also really like going to VFL games. Great atmosphere and much less pressure and commercialism than the AFL.

Even for a final, it was a bit extreme (and encouraged dropping and throwing the ball) but VFL umps are usually a lot less contrary to the spirit of the game.

There was a lot more congestion because of it though.

Not sure how obvious it was to those of you at the ground, but some of the dropping of the balls were ridiculously obvious on TV. A couple of times I wished I could rewind the coverage, because i thought I must have been seeing things when what I saw didn’t coincide with a whistle being blown

Ha, there was one in the third quarter at our CHF where my brain didn’t initially register it was a throw, it was sooooooo blatant it didn’t make sense.

A second later the cheating clicked, and I howled in anger.

We only laid 83 tackles, you need to do more than that to get a free paid against Footscray.

Jeebus.

Some of the glooming in this thread gives Gloomers a bad name.

Gloom properly, FFS, FFS.

We were robbed!

KB, Do you mean there will be no Harts for the Sydney game or have I misread it?

We need a laugh. Box Hill won their first final and therefore have a maximum of two games left for the year:

AFL Victoria’s Match Review Panel charged player Tyrone Vickery for striking Port Melbourne player Hugh Sandilands during the third quarter of the VFL 2nd Qualifying Final, Box Hill Hawks vs Port Melbourne on Sunday 3rd September, 2017 at Box Hill City Oval.

Based on the available video and medical report, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct with low impact and high contact and high idiocy. The incident was classified as a two match base sanction. In summary, due to a previous poor record, his two match sanction is increased by one game to three matches, therefore he can accept a two match sanction with an early guilty plea.

(HAMS followed up his 36 disposal return game with 28 and 10 marks.)

Lel at vickery and Hawthorn.

LOL it was sighted as an admin error and he is eligible for the GF now should they make it

I thought the umpiring wasn’t that bad, they let the game flow. Of course, VFL umpires don’t have a prime time audience to make it about themselves, like that ■■■■■■■ Chamberlain.

YOU’VE GOT TO BE ■■■■■■■ KIDDING ME.

It stinks how the admin of everything Vickery-related is as bad as he is.
