I think it was Mick Lynch when he was asking why it was impossible to give pay rises to nurses, doctors and other medical staff.

We can’t do that because we’re saving it for the NHS.

ML: Those people ARE the NHS!

Talk about delusion.

The only thing that brought down Truss was her own lack of intellect!

Underlining her lack of intellect, “left wing” and “establishment” are mutually incompatible (at least in UK).

Nicola Sturgeon’s resignation came shortly after the death of Tom Nairn, the Scottish Marxist nationalist.
He had contempt for the English caste system and despaired of Labour and the Unions in their antipathy to redressing this.
He wrote the Breaking of Britain
He also had a thing about the House of Windsor, written up in his book The Enchanted Glass.
He later spent a few years lecturing at RMIT.

Came across this vid , which might cause some folk to dust off their Irish passports, or re-apply,
even on the off chance you might claim right of abode. It sounds like things have improved an Ireland no longer depends on potatoes.

In the 90s/early 2000s they were getting rich through subsidising highly skilled eastern European IT people to come over and work there for peanuts in the wake of European Union. For the last decade or so they’ve been getting rich by structuring their tax laws so that they’re an integral part of many international corporate tax evasion schemes, and creaming a bit off the top. What’s the latest strategy?

Before then Ireland was luring companies to set up manufacturing there with massive tax exemptions. Not a lot of success and it fell foul of EU competition policies.
