Southport was merged into Merseyside electorate, a new electorate in 2024. It was won by a Labour candidate.
It was estimated that the Southport vote in the Brexit referendum was 54% remain. Southport is a relatively prosperous area.

It was known that the 17yo was black and subsequently that he was the child born in Cardiff of Rwandan refugees.
That didn’t stop the wild stories on social media that he was a Muslim refugee, to justify the Islamophobia.
Ironically Rwanda is predominantly Christian, Islam only accounts for around 2% of religions in Rwanda.
