Starmer suspends a bunch of Labour MPs who crossed the floor to support an amendment to legislation capping family tax benefits to 2 children. The previous Government partly justified it to discourage low paid people in work from breeding more.
Way to go when you have such a huge majority, need to maintain austerity measures.
So, what’s changed with the change in government?

At the joint presser during Biden’s State visit to France, Biden opened with the statement that France was the first friend and only friend of the US during its struggle for independence. He said that, without France the US would not have become a nation. The contribution of France would not be forgotten on 4 July.
For the Brits this year, 4 July will have a different resonance.

I was happy to receive mine. Cost of living, rent, food prices, gas prices all going up.

Imagine my disposition towards Labor’s do nothing policy on predatory landlords when, in the very same week, I receive notice that my weekly rent is being raised by 22%, exceeding the amount of the tax cut.

And in the spirit of Dingus’ bump, the support that France gave the US during the revolutionary War caused a drain on their finances, so they had to increase taxes. This was naturally unpopular and led to the French Revolution.

But the US forgot all about the help they got from the French against the English and did not help them when they were next at war with the Poms.
