EPL 2024/25

Sure, but then you probably can’t replace most of those players due to FFP rules. My understanding is that we were already spending as much as we could, hence selling McTominay to asisst with that tricky PSR offset. I’d rather the current squad than a bunch of free agents.

I think the squad is actually in decent shape compared to most of the post-Fergie era. A good manager could do something with these players, especially after another summer window. Unfortunately we are terrible at identifying the right managers.

How many managers do we burn through whilst the same petulant players remain.

Hopefully Southgate gets the job.

Yuk

As I’ve pointed out, there isn’t really a way to bring in replacements anyway to support the clearing out, so finding a better manager in combination with our improved transfer team is the way forward. It’s not like finding fault with our previous managers is difficult to do. They all had gaping flaws, at least while at United. The club can’t just clean house and drop to the bottom of the league and regenerate with a safety net. Rebuilding the squad has to be gradual, it’s just how it is.

The fans and members won’t tolerate this rubbish. Already starting to see death threats and abuse aimed at players, management and owners. Some of the anger is not far off turning to full violence

Or you do what Ace is suggesting, of selling most of the players.

Then you rely heavily on academy players…… get their price up and sell at a high.

That’s how you beat FFP, is through selling academy players.

The issue for Man United is that they over spend on players, then sell them at a huge loss. It kills your FFP.

Man Un supporters are like Carlton supporters but worse.

Definitely a Hitler vs Stalin dilemma.

Talking about death threats brought this memory back. That’s my little brother when he played for Chelmsford years ago. The advertising company thought it would be a good idea to put a giant poster opposite Old Trafford. Rob and the club got loads of death threats from United fans like powder in parcels sent to the offices. Police were involved but I can’t remember anyone getting nicked.

I would love nothing less than for United to go full youth academy, but let’s be honest, the fans who are angry now will only be more angry once those academy players struggle to keep United in the league altogether.

I don’t hold much immediate hope for Man United, when you see how poorly INEOS is running their famed road cycling team. There seems to be a lack of vision in both moving forward which is unforgiveable when you consider they both have big budgets.

Couple of names coming up already.
Obviously Southgate. But also Ruud van Nistelrooy and maybe Eddie Howe.

Eddie wont move now, he’s embedded in Newcastle and doing a great job. … but for mine he’d be excellent as United’s next manager.

United have a few testy away games in the next week so the pressure is right on. Some say the Board have already decided he’s gone … its just about the timing now.

And there’s Xabi Alonso. Swears he wouldn’t move to anywhere in England from his BL, except for Liverpool. But given Slot is in there, if I was Jim Ratcliffe I’d go full metal jacket in trying to lure him or Eddie come season end. Because for Erik its really just not working.

Alonso will manage Real Madrid. IMO he withdrew from the Liverpool job after RM told him on the quiet that Ancelotti would vacate in a couple of seasons and that he’d be the man to take over…
