No such thing as deliberate oob in the Laws Of The Game. It’s up to the umpire to determine whether the last player who touched it “demonstrated sufficient intent to keep the football in play.”
Of course what the laws of the game say and what the umpires actually do won’t necessarily match up nicely.
If you look at all the players we have lost who never got a opportunity to established himself .like TED Richard, Houli and other, do you think players like Zak and Clarke will think about moving on to another club .where they will established himself .you looked at clarke against Carlton he got Brownlow points if you are new player drafted by Essendon .you think worsfold forget about these new players. it take 5 years to get a game with Worsfold philosophy. Sam Draper how many times was named emergency before he did his knee
Apologies for shortening my interpretation of the statutes to match exactly what is said by both players & umpires during the game.
Without the crowd noise it’s pretty easy to hear “Deliberate “.
I’ve yet to hear an umpire say”You failed to demonstrate sufficient intent to keep the football in play Mr Hurley”
