We loved the Melbourne Deathride.
During trade period there was a discussion on who would you most want to Deathride in 2026. A Blitzer (can’t remember who) faultlessly suggested Essendon.

We also swapped a bunch of picks with ourselves to keep Merrett, so there’s that.

I was worried we might bounce back against Port. Or that they might tank better than us.
But it was end-to-end number 1 draft pick performance by Essendon.
It’s going to be really hard for other clubs to get under us this year. The combination of losing & a terrible percentage is going to hard to out do.
Wins already for WC & Norf put them a win & major % above us - after 2 games!
Farkcarlton, Melbourne & Port have chalked up wins from the next worst bunch.

Instead of the best season ever on record… it’s the most convincing award of the No.1 pick & priority picks.
Finish last, don’t bid on any players because we want that pick 1 glamour, forget that means we don’t get a bonus end of first round pick, ???, profit.

100% we are finishing last. Bidding on Cochrane and triggering compo before taking Butler. Merrett traded for pick 10 and we get Will Malady.
If there’s two superstars in the draft we’ll finish 16th. We don’t know how to win, we don’t know how to lose (properly).
They are tied to Port and Carlton. We can finish last and we still won’t get them.
