Watching the replay - loved the atmosphere!!
Also, has Hogan always been a sook when he doesn’t get his way?

Really negative.
so aside from the port game which increasingly looks to be an outlier we matched the swans for the vast majority of the game before getting overrun, went toe to toe with the pies all day, controlled the game against the dogs and got the w, and now you can argue bar a poor first qtr, we put in a very professional performance against gws slowly turning the screws and then affecting a 40-ish point turnaround in the second half which we thoroughly controlled.
This is what a systems based team looks like.
Now clearly we are going to continue to have some inconsistency from qtr to qtr and maybe even week to week but we’re in these games and getting these results because we’re doing more of the right things in the right way for longer both in qtrs and across matches.
Which is to say, while it’s not really clear how far we’ll go this year, one thing that I think can probably now be agreed upon by most is that we are actually developing and we are progressing (■■■■■■■ finally) in the right direction.
Go Bombers.
The log jam inside the top 8 is intense.
2 points separates 3rd and 7th.
Great win, and really good to see us overcome the first quarter where it was looking as though they were a class above. But we stuck at it, and only inaccurate kicking cost us a bigger margin.
I’m regretting decision to not fly down for the game.
Can we have a week of laying off lav, thought he was great today
Stringer can’t kick straight from a set shot but how good was that half volley pickup, turn and goal in the 3rd. Insane.
His kicking is problematic
it’s usually automatic
I had to leave the house with 5 minutes to go so I missed all the celebrations.
How exciting. Can’t believe it!
I love Guelfi. What a cutie and a sweetie.
I was also seated next to someone who was also a bombers supporter at the event I attended. How good is that. We both took screenshots of the ladder .
Can’t wait for the afl’s explanation on why then non 50 was fine, Sam Taylor did the same thing in the second to stop a Langford inboard pass too.
Lots to like about tonight.
My favourite part - the crowd cheering for every mark, as we played kick to kick, and wound time off the clock.
Also, hurry up and announce the rest of the fixture so I can book some trips!
It felt like an entire stadium of fans being thankful for the certainty they’re rarely able to have that there’s no way the opposition are getting a sniff of a goal let alone a victory.
There is a well known story about Roger Bannister racing John Landy in the Commonwealth games. Landy was a fast starter and Bannister couldn’t go with him, but was told to imagine an invisible elastic band. If the lead/band got over 10 yards, it would break and Bannister would lose. Keeping Landy’s lead to about 5 yards allowed Bannister to pace himself and come back for the win. That is how it felt in this game. I was still confident at half time, because even though GWS had comprehensively out played us, they hadn’t put that big a gap on the scoreboard. That invisible rubber band in terms of football scores is about 5 goals. The Giants were still well within reach, even after they kicked their first in the third quarter they still couldn’t shake us off and when we kicked our second of the third l knew we were back in the game, big time.
Don’t like the rubber band analogy? Well there is another famous sporting strategy that is equally applicable to this game. Ali’s rope a dope tactics against Foreman. We took the Giants best shots and they punched themselves out in the first half. By the last quarter we had completely turned the tables on them and they couldn’t mount any sort of offence.
Going into the game l thought we were a 50/50 chance, and maintained that belief even at half time, even though l never said anything at the time. Just prior to the game starting a couple of young adults asked me what l thought would happen. I said we would win by about 4 goals, but l wasn’t as confident as l sounded.
Havent seen fight and grit like that from the team for a long time. Very impressive.
Watching at the ground, you could feel the pressure and the tension in the game. And you could actually feel our team’s response.
Feels like watching Essendon again.
When that happened my first thought was how Herb would use that moment in a video…
I’m pretty happy with the result, I was one of the few that was very confident however
Hind was good today, his second half was nothing short of brilliant. I say this without being a Hind fan boy and have often wondered why he gets games, today he showed why.
