I like challenging people who repeat verbatim Essendon now has an “identifiable brand” or “game plan” or “structure” and that they “set up well” after watching porridge heads like david king.
With 5 ins after the bye and flying in the morning of the game he was probably a bit nervous how it would all pan out. Also Clarkson is pretty shifty so he might have been unsettled by that too.
As it was the cameras went to him after we gave away 50m penalties and our skills were pretty ordinary (or we’d finish of some brilliant play by doing something stupid).
Good to see him getting invested. I was worried we might deliberately lose games this year (for higher picks) but it seems he’s really wanted to win them all.
so like I said, just like any other stats, they can be interpreted any way the observer wants too see them as.
as in, If they lay a fwd 50 tackle and stick it, then don’t have to run the length of the ground to cover the oppositions transition out of defence, that can be represented in multiple ways depending on which path ends up being taken.
Just like the 2nd qtr would show very little forward running cos they couldn’t get the ball past half way of the ground for most of the qtr, hence they didn’t have to run as far.
It was a great weekend for the good blokes in footy, with Jake Stringer starring in this game.
His 29 disposals and four goals were the difference between the two sides, with Essendon fans thrilled with the win, despite it being against a Hawks side that is not very good.
That said, the Hawks have shown improvement in the last two weeks.
Like that rash I picked up in South America, the Hawks just wouldn’t go away in this one.
Essendon fans were particularly nervous, remembering that in Round One, Hawthorn overcame a 40 point deficit to beat the Bombers by one point.
The difference now is Essendon’s younger brigade are giving four-quarter efforts.
Bombers fans were left happy with the win and wondering what they’d be like if Jake Stringer played like this consistently.
