Essendon vs Orange Pus review thread - 2023 round 4

Oh I have. It’s feral. I should have said ‘this site’ instead.

Salary cap wasn’t psychological damage

Not a great vibe considering we had a win. Midfield operating well. In good news saw a few players performing the lost art of shepherding to great effect today.

A reminder of last Easter:

Today wasn’t perfect but beats that ■■■■ from last year.

That was a terrible day at the footy. Was that the Stewart missing the ball on the goal line game?

Someone posted a comparison with Zerk Thatcher having got his confidence and learning the game in the VFL. Its time for Jones to do that. Seriously would he get a game in any other team atm?

I really thought it was a good win. Not clean at all, but hard battled and we continually pressured GWS. I’ll take that quite happily.

Was only lost at out club. I too am pleased to see it return.

Still won a final since then

It’s not this year we have to worry about, it’s next year.

God I can’t help but be worried for Brad if we finish 7-9 this year (which is a big chance given our draw). Expectations will be high going into 2024 with a much harder draw and naturally fall back down the ladder History says Essendon can’t hold its nerve with these situations

12.22 gets it done.

Now let us never speak of it again.

Parish had zero tackles??

How

He didn’t tackle anyone.

Is that right, well I am surprised that someone who plays so much time around the ball has…zero tackles.

Jake Kelly deserves some more love on here. Under rated.

A win is always welcome, but poor goalkicking aside there are still some massive issues with this team. For me the biggest problem is we get beaten out the front of the stoppage far too regularly. It was a forward handball and see ya later, the Giants were gone. Really need to invest more time in the defensive aspects of stoppage work and preventing the bleeding if we don’t win the footy ourselves. Against Melbourne next week we will get pummeled if we allow Oliver, Petracca, Viney, etc to get goal side at a stoppage.

Does so much well- really solid footballer, but I can’t help but worry anytime he has the ball in hand.

Let that sink in.

We have a league.

Its Melbourne. Of course they will threaten to tear us apart.

But i reckon we are playing pretty decent footy both ball in hand and without.

…we get the matchups right, play well. Ya never know.

Genuinely think the game could throw up a surprise result

How we finished last year we would be rank outsiders and lining up to get thumped.

How Scotts got us playing now its far from a forgone conclusion.

I think we are going to win one of our next 3:

Melbourne (AO)
Collingwood (MCG)
Geelong (MCG)

Just don’t know which one yet.
