It’s literally pointless contracted players nominating to leave publicly unless they know it’s going to get done IMO. Just creates embarrassment for themselves / club trying to get to etc it falls over.
At this stage Ess does still hold the leverage as he is contracted and only IF can get satisfactory offer from either club would send him home.
I still think it happens this year though, Adelaide seems more likely if we trying to trade up to 2
that’s the only reason he stayed this year and its backfired on him. port offered him a 4 year deal last year on decent money, he thought he could get more if he went around again with us and got back to 2017 form but we’ll yeah…it’s backfired
I dont understand this. why would 1 - he get independent medicals for the SA clubs off his own back and 2 - brasher tell us he wants out and 3 - the crows publicly say he wants to come home if he hasn’t made up his mind about returning to SA? just on face value, its very clear he’s made up his mind
Wouldn’t you want to keep your options open if you had tendons of twine? I prefer Raz’s respectful approach over the “please sir can I leave the club now” which others favour.
Before we had Joe and Saad announce they wanted out, I was pretty sure we would let Raz go for a packet of chips, ie pick 50.
But with salary cap looking fine I’d imagine we wouldn’t let him go as easily.
We can still trade him next year (or is he FA?)
I can’t see Adelaide or Port parting with a late second for him, so my money is on him staying. Hence why he hasn’t publicly requested anything.
Officially?
My understanding is that Fantasia and the club had both agreed to seek options in SA but he still hasn’t formerly requested a move.
Port GM said on the news just before that Orazio needs to inform Essendon that he wants out before they can progress further.
It does seem like a foregone conclusion that he will though but he really should be knuckling down for a year with us and trying to get a decent contract.
