George Russel isn’t my favourite driver but geez that’s rough. He raced a great race, called the one stop very early and made it work. Feel bad for him.
Perez has been awful after the first handful of races but I’m sceptical that Danny Ric will do any better. He hasn’t exactly been shooting the lights out.
Didn’t Perez sign a two year contract extension only two months ago? If they dump him what does that mean?

Probably a nice pay check and he goes looking for a drive somewhere else. I think that Red Bull would rather put Lawson in the RB than Perez for the remainder of the season.
The risk then would’ve been if hed carry enough weight to have kept his spot.
you usually hear during quali that 1kg of fuel roughly equates to 0.1sec lap time
so take 6 seconds off russell’s time and that’s 3rd

It depends on how the weight is missing - if he had the same fuel burn as Hamilton but was 1.5kg lighter the whole race, that is different to burning 1.5kg more fuel through the race etc. Likewise if it’s tyre weight.
Tough on George, but thems the rules.

I reckon RB will prefer Dan in for the rest of the year as he is consistent, and they want to win the constructors championship. Lewson still gets a drive but can learn in the VCARB.
Danny Ric if you watch closely has got the most out of the car he has been given and been very consistent.
Even if he gets the RB job and does well, he might still get the ass at the end of the year.

Is love to see Ric get another go but surely it should be Yuki! Yeah he gets angry but they’re not running a meditation retreat out there.
Dan jogged off after his discussion with Horner like he was going to clean out his current locker and get his bags packed for a start in his new/old team.

RB have serious concerns with how Yuki would work with Max
Totally understood and I’ve been a fan of Ric since he was in a HRT so I’d love to see him jag a couple of wins but bloody hell the point is to go fast
I think he’s lucky here
He will be faster than Perez, that’s not hard, so will be and upgrade on what they have now
He had a good relationship with Max, they get along very well.
He’s more experienced than Lawson and more of a known quantity

Danny’ race was OK, he had a unique strategy to start on soft tyres, but they did nothing for him except allow him to run the rest of the race with tyres in reasonable nick. There is a group of cars that regularly get into a DRS train at the back of the field. Yuki got stuck in that lot, just like Danny did last week.
But dont read anything into Dannys smiles and handshake with Horner. Danny never stops smiling.
But getting into a helicopter with Max, now we are talking

Russel must be absolutely spewing after total disqualification for being 1.5 kg under, fcs.
I’d love to be 1.5kg under. 15kg even.

yep - I thought Russell drove a great race. He made the one stop call and backed it to the finish line. If being underweight made a difference then them the rules and should get the appropriate penalty. But you can’t criticise his driving chops.
Thought it was a crackin race overall. Lots of battles going on and drivers holding their nerve to keep their place.
I’m pleased for LeClerc and Ferrari getting 3rd and Ricciardo getting the point (it shows the value of fighting for every point/place)
But gotta love Oscar and his proving to be a very dangerous driver - fantastic stuff.
Hamilton is having a revival with Mercedes giving their drivers a fast car. So with McLaren super strong, and Ferrari in the mix, it’s turned the trajectory around for this season from a Max and Red Bull easy walk to the spoils.
gonna be very interesting to see what they do post summer break
