So it looked like oscar was on a strat to help lando? hard tires, pit as late as possible, hold the race lead as long as you can so max cant control the front, lose a shitload of time with worn tires then eventually pit when its safe?
Mclaren said they would let him race?

It sucked, but also Oscar had a bunch of races since Monza, where he was asked to give back the lead after Norris’ slow pit stop, where his form fell off a cliff.
It was just one slip up.
Maybe it was him, maybe it was his team or the car, but something went pear shaped.
Unpopular opinion, but congrats to Lando to get the World Championship.
And well done to Oscar in getting third in his third season. He had an outstanding year and would have learnt a lot about is needed to win a championship.
F1 is a weird beast as it’s a team competition but with this very strong individual element. In a team with a clear leading driver it works fine. But having two leading drivers creates massive management issues.
Bring on 2026.

Oscar’s overtake on Lando on lap one was like getting goal and mark of the year in the losing grand final.

Max or vettel are on the other side of this equation where they were the ones getting the benefit. I dont think McLaren screwed him out of the championship, his euro leg did that to himself. They did favour Lando, but not to the point of gifting it. Lando had a good season and his drive last night was solid.
Oscar has done very very well this year, fix his euro races and he wins it by a length. Bring on the new rules in 2026 and lets see what it looks like. 100% he will be at mclaren next year.
As much as I hate to say it, we’ll done to Max, crushed the last half of the season.
It will be interesting to see what happens with the new technical regulations in 2026 which will undoubtedly see some surprises in the early part of the year. The one certainty is that if Mclaren still has the fastest car then Oscar will win at Melbourne.

The most favorable Lando move was forcing Oscar to let Lando pass due to a bad pit stop.
Gifted Lando 3 points and he won the championship by 2 points.

Especially when on the radio he seemed to suggest it was agreed that a slow pit was art of racing.Oscar just needsd to be better in that stretch of races where his form went to ■■■■.
Edit: and the ‘botched’ pit stop from last week that stopped Piastri from getting P1. The extra 7 points would’ve been handy. But his team knew that, so sacrificed his race/season.

Yes this is the stand out bullshit call from the team, also not pitting oscar last week during the safety car. Both very very questionable on motive.
Bad pit stops is bad pit stops and both lando and oscar copped them a few times, I dont think that was deliberate though on oscar.

Was pretty odd seeing Max and Oscar waiting in the post race room. Lando walks in and there was very little acknowledgement.
In almost any other sport there’d be some kind of interaction or engagement. Especially from a ‘team mate’, but Oscar was just laying on the couch.
