Iām outraged that my sensibilities are challenged when I say things that outrage and challenge other peopleās sensibilities. Something has gone mad!
āIf you call out someone based on their appearance and not on their ability, youāre racially stereotyping. Iāve told Jeff that,ā McLachlan said.
He did, however, go on to say Jeff felt remorse. Thatās an obvious lie. Phew.
I wonder what would have happened at Blundstone if the umpire hadnāt been close by to stop the security guard interfering with the scuffle on the ground.
Would the security guard have escorted both Ziebell and Shaw out of the ground. Amazing footage.
Itās a clash of contexts. A security guard is working within his normal frame of reference: people wrestling, my job to stop it. The football world is shocked that someone dares pierce the domain of the players and the umpires. Donāt they realise the AFL is a sovereign state, beyond the norms of law applicable to common Australians?
Occasionally the outside world interferes (eg assault charge for Leigh Matthews). Iām struck by how incredulous we are at the guard and not at professional adults wresting on the ground in front of a crowd coming to watch football.
I guess the answer is that we love low-level violence to the point that looser policing of it is fine. Avoid the coward punch, but bring back the mild shove!
yep. to get a security licence itās a 4 week course.
I think iāve said on here before, that iām surprised more major stuff doesnāt happen at big events like this, be it sport, music or general gatherings simply due to lack of proper organisation.
that guy was prolly on 17 dollars an hour to boot, so iām suprised he gave a ā ā ā ā at all.
