When they asked Harry Dean about his family, he said a few uncles still barracked for Essendon but he was hopeful of converting them.
One of those uncles, Stephen, played at our cricket club for a year or two in the mid to late 90s, and I asked him about it. He responded that the family were all Essendon and the only who’d switched to Carlton was the mum…and essentially…■■■■ Carlton.
i reckon if the uncles still support Essendon and they never switched for their brother, they ain’t gunna switch now.
of course, Bendigo was Carlton’s recruiting zone, and they scored quite a few guns from there.

Yeah, but now he went to St Kilda and as a gift to Carlton he overpaid TDK and his son so Carlton got better picks than they deserved.

Little did we know what was coming after that. Genuinely thought we broke Carlton. But they won nearly every game for the rest of 2023 and won 2 finals and us bombers capitulated.
