Yep, the food there is junk now. No decent places to eat apart from the gelati shop Pidapipo. The “authentic Italian” is just McCain’s pizza and pasta thawed and placed in an oven

I love Donnini’s and usually head there whilst here but they were shut tonight.
The food at Little Lygon was quite good but the wine selection was average

Trotters is pretty good, at least there are a few genuine Italians in the kitchen,

Not authentic but I still find my way to cavallino for a melanzane pizza when I can, followed by the gelati place next door to 7 eleven.

Do you get accosted by the guy on Grattan St - Lygon St corner?

I like Tiamo (the original one). That pocket of Lygon St has a nice feel.

Ditch Lygon st and head close by to Marias Trattoria in North Melbourne. Thats the real stuff. Place hasnt been redecorated since the 70’s. And old Maria still runs the kitchen.

Lol is that you Heather Mills?

Real Italians don’t go to Lygon St anymore. Just the East Brunswick end if you’re lucky.

If you want to get shot. It has cleaned up a little, but still dodgey.

Speaking of which, Gelobar has nice pastries.

True though, the Arab part.

Was great under the old owners. The original owner died then when the new owners took over they got rid of the bakery staff and hired their own and expanded. It is still good, but not as good as it was. Then one of the silent owners ended up with a bullet in his head.

Stereotype much?

  1. Are you offended?
  2. Are you Italian?

I mean, complaining Italians is one thing, but complaining Vegans?

Has the world gone topsy-turvy?
