These smarmy tossers need to be knocked back into their place.

Unfortunately there isn't a side good enough to do that.

Not this year, probably not next year.

I don't accept that at all.
Last years Premiership was well deserved.
They had been building up to it for a number of years.
Dues were paid, no doubt.
Having said that, they only won by 16 points, and I thought a couple of decisions by the umps were very fortunate.
Also, Freo were not able to nail important early shots on goal.
Now, they have lost Buddy, so Rough and Gunstan get a little more attention, and a better opponent.
Mitchell, Hodge, Sewell and Lake are all a year older.
I'd rate them between 25-35% chance of winning it this year.

Collingwood and hawthorn have a good club and admin set up but pissant supporters - I cant make that distinction at Carlton.

Bottom 3 in 2005 were Carlton, Hawthorn and Collingwood. Two of those clubs have since won premierships

We will do it, Lid off!

I dislike hawthorn but I am impressed with their recruiters and trading ability. From 2000-2007 they looked woeful… then bang took a no nonsense approach and cut out a fair chunk of their list in a single year and stocked up in the draft.

Gut lucky when Richmond took Tambling over buddy and their two tall pillars were set. Got Croad back from Freo for a pittance and snared Mitchell from the VFL/EFL.

smart dealings.

If only other clubs like Brisbane took a leaf out of their book

From THAT 7:30 report the other night:

JEFF KENNETT: As president of Hawthorn, when the AFL was trying to move us out of Tasmania onto the mainland, and I said, "No, we have a commitment to Tasmania. We have 8,000 members there. We enjoy playing there. We're not going." And then I was offered a handful of money. Not me personally, but the club.
LOUISE MILLIGAN: How much money?
JEFF KENNETT: Oh, well, I think it was $1 or $2 million a year.
LOUISE MILLIGAN: And who offered it?

JEFF KENNETT: Oh, one of the senior officials of the AFL. And I'm just saying, they tried to press their point, and when they weren't getting their way, in the end, they just turned round and said, "We'll try and buy you."

Why hasn't this been more examined in the press?

because james hird made it all about himself and he needs to get better PR people.

also, no ones really picked up on the potential that the treatment of Dean Bailey destroyed his health? did it give him cancer? maybe not, did it create such a negative impact on his life and health that could of exacerbated serious illness, possibly.

do you want people that run the afl doing business in this manner?

Garlett quits AFL!

EFC recruitment 1 blitz 0

Yeah, not sure it was that simple, but they have been good.

Garlett quits AFL!
EFC recruitment 1 blitz 0

I think the score is more significantly different to that.

Just one example is Barlow vs Hardingham.

So that's 1-1.

There are probably a heap of others too, for both sides.

Palmer V Myers?

Or Rioli V Myers?

Gumbleton vs Selwood

Even Gumbleton vs Hansen

Despicable club for terrible human beings

Could not agree more. Worse than Carlton.

Worse than Michael Jackson.

(Crazy Iron Sheik reference)

I hate them more than anyone else.

Because of them, I even hate Seahawks, Blackhawks, anything Hawks.

Most of my memories of being outraged or disgusted at the footy come from them.

Leigh Matthews king hitting blokes, Dipper and Brereton, Robertson in the 83 GF.

Then there was the 'line in the sand' game where they knew we'd never fight back because we were playing finals.

And somehow people always talk them up for being the family club.

That's absolute crap as well.

Then there's the membership numbers they put up featuring Rover and Mittens.

I just hate them.

A mate drew a logo for a fantasy football team (based on the TV show Deadwood) but I always thought it would be a good Hawthorn logo because it says everything I think about them.

(This is a bit NSFW in the language stakes, so if you've seen Deadwood and think they swear a bit, you might not click on the link)

Ha! Swearangen. I actually kind of liked him in Deadwood…
I always had a passionate disliking for Hawthorn but hearing their supporters singing their song at quarter time during a belting tipped me over the edge. It also goes without saying that any club that would allow Jeff Kennett in as president must be one of poor moral standing.

It was more the name of the team that was the Hawthorn reference.

As a club I hate Carlton much much more. But Hawthorn fans are well and truely the biggest f***wits out there
