Former #10 Sam Weideman

Who are all there busted backs that have turned into good forwards? The reason that plenty of forwards have made a go of it as defenders is because it’s that much easier to play that end of the ground. Any good forward can go back and make it look easy.

Name names!!! Who

If you’re going to quote me, make sure you quote what I actually said. I didn’t say “busted backs make good forwards” - what I said was “a lot of busted backs make good forwards”, which is not the same thing.

The point I was making is that it’s a rare forward who has, or can develop, the skills needed to be a good back, just as the opposite is also true. Back play is not easier or harder than forward - it is simply different, and requires a different skill set and mindset. I thought that was self-evident.

“Name names,” you say. I could, but why should I ? You made a claim without providing examples - I contradicted it, also without providing examples. If it’s so important to you, why don’t you “name names” yourself ?

No problem

Redman and Laverde are even two in our own team for crying out loud.

Ah no, it’s clearly true.

I agree with the overall sentiment, but not necessarily this point.

I don’t reckon all good key forwards could easily transition into key defence.

For example, I reckon 2MP would be rubbish at it.

Sounds encouraging. He is contracted for another season. Please can we recover something from the train wreck selection of the 2022 trading period.

I think he is going to play back or forward but he will be named

Sheedy loved Hennemen

Scott loves Weidemann

Get ready

I’ve only watched the first half so far and after i figured out the camera angle, i thought weid looked very good in defence. His flaws are fumbling marks, so having the option of punching and utilising his good field kicking will suit him playing in defence.

We have so many defenders though, we had to change the team around to slot him in, what happens if we also get McKay, a lot of players on the list become useless.

Backline is absolutely easier than playing forward. Always has been, always will be. We have not got 1 backline player that could play forward, not 1

BZT get him in there!!!

I’ll see my own way out

If he plays weid over Baldwin- it’s pretty much a nailed on certainty that Baldwin will be delisted at seasons end

Id be very surprised if Baldwin is Delisted.
He’s showing quite a bit as a backman.

I don’t believe a selection decision this week will alter the above.

Having said that, i’d be shocked if Weid replaces Ridley after 1 VFL game in defence.
