Former #15 Jayden Laverde - π‹π’π―πžπ“›π“ͺ𝓾𝓰𝓱 𝕃𝔸𝕍 LEFT

Gotta love the guy.

Hes useless dont get me wrong but battles hard and never takes a backward step.

Went pretty well tonight

Constantly being asked to do the impossible, and most weeks, he damn near delivers.

Respect… Well done Lav.

Where’s the β€˜Brave’ comment muppet tonight?

If his name was Jack Silverde he’d be invited round to Brad’s for supper with a 4 year contract stuffed into his dinner menu.

Lav is a battlefield

Why not? β– β– β– β– β– β– β–  sick of soft players. Realistically i’d love to see any undersized 3rd tall defender get into this backline 10 weeks ago and get told you’ll have to play the best forward. Ridley lasted 2 games before his body broke down.

Yeah I put some respect on Laverde, he’s busting a gut every week way undersized.

He hates getting beaten, genuine competitor.

We all want McKay, Reid, Hayes and Ridley to be the future so I can understand Laverde being let go.

But every week you can bet he’s having a dip.

McKay is a spud

Ridley & Reid are cooked. Soft tissue injuries.

Big fan of Hayes. Shame about the injury.

I’m not saying that Lav is the future, but he is a competitive beast that doesn’t shy away from the contest.

I can’t get the vision of Ridley in the 4th quarter against the Suns pretending to compete for a marking opportunity, ball goes to ground & he runs the opposite way. He would of done it because he wasn’t confident in another explosive effort due to his soft tissue issues. Lav on the other end of the spectrum would absolutely bust his balls to compete.

I’d be considering to draft a KPP back with one of our top 2 picks. Not sure who is available though

Giving him a contract is like handing out A participation award for trying. Yeh he busts his β– β– β– β– β– β– β–  ass every week but he’s not good enough

Lav is a solid defender has been all his career I’m not sure why some people like to pot him - he’d have to be given a 1 year deal you’d think - if not other clubs would surely look at picking him up

Lol no ones picking him up

Yes he is a warrior, and yes he isn’t up to playing at FB week in, week out. Gives his all, but it isn’t enough. This should be his last year. Goodbye and many thanks for your service.

I just don’t see how the fact he plays undersized all the time is a plus. That’s the position he plays. That’s how tall the opponents are. It’s cool that he tries hard, but it only gets raised as a point because he tries hard and loses.

i have to agree. i really like Lav and his effort. But we cant keep stuffing the list full of guys that will be exclusively depth. list spots are extremely tight and were already going to struggle to keep everyone on.

There is no one in the backline that gives a crap other than him and the younger boys. I’m not relying on McKay, Ridley or Ried to put in a consistent run next year. At least Lav has had a good run and stayed on the field.

The flipside of this is that if everyone was fit, and he was getting games ahead of any of those guys, blitz would turn nasty on him very quickly.

Dont forget how ordinary Essendon have been over the length of Lav’s playing career.

With the lack of pressure on opposition ball carriers and the ease of delivery, and the constant delivery into the opposition forward line, any, and every Essendon backman is going to be put under the pump. Week, after week.

Especially under the pump if you’re a reasonably undersized backman who most weeks, due to team injury, is required to mind the leagues best and biggest.

Yeah, Lav has some untidy disposal at times, but jeez you guys go hard on him.
