Former #2 Big Sammy Draper

Nothing says I love you and want to repay you more than securing band 1 compo after doing your achilies.

I’d would have prefer he stayed but combining coming back from an achilles, possibly band 1 compo (when we had a lowly finish) and the need to not over pay more injury prone players - he’s doing us a solid leaving.

The uproar from everyone else if we get pick 5 compo is going to be funny

How’s pick 23 feel? After academy bids?

Certainly an upgrade on O’Brien,(and Fort for that matter), if he gets back to full fitness.

Yeah very much so

Willie has runs on the board.

@willie_■■■■ - it concerns me that Vozzo has Draper central to his strategy, but then leaves the negotiations (initially) to others, and there’s some kind of disconnect or incompetence and our negotiating strategy doesn’t match our list strategy.

In other words, if Rosa isn’t learning fast enough, then Vozzo isn’t mentoring closely enough.

Rosa learnt from the same guy who did similar with Saad and Massimo’s negotiations from what was reported.

This club is just amateur hour from top to bottom.

Embarrassing.

Well, Draper’s value for the Crows has certainly increased.

The only good thing to come out of the pies getting up…. hopefully Crows go out in straight sets.

100%. Holding off the announcement can only be to prevent a distraction to his future club who are involved in the finals. If he was staying- he would have said so - wouldn’t he? What’s the point of prolonging the agony? It’s such a disappointing finish to Draper’s time at the club. We love his big personality and his exhuberance and his popularity but what we’re getting from him now seems to be an arrogant ‘Up yours’ to the club and the supporters while he still uses the facilities to rehab. If you’re going, Sam - just farking go.

Ouch!

Doubtful. Ruck is the least of their problems. They need quality mids and if I was them I’d be throwing everything at Merrett.

Let’s face it, work ethic or injuries aside, in a parallel universe where Essendon fielded a successful side that could support the likes of Draper, Voss and Stringer everyone on this site would be horned up to the gills on the ‘edge’ and hype these boys bring

There’s benefit to keeping and off loading Draper, I don’t feel like it’s a black and white decision for him. For me he seems torn between staying with the club that he loves or choosing a career that will for fill him, because he wants success and Essendon is about as stable and reassuring as using a fly screen door to float in the ocean for survival

I think I’m in the minority here, but I think with the demo and experience of our rucks, it would be smart for us to keep Draper. I don’t see Goldstein as a full time player, Bryan needs game time and going in to a season alone wouldn’t be ideal and Big V still feels like he’s got a ways to go with his physical development

Isn’t that how negotiations work?

Yes, that’s fine…doesn’t mean you overpay for a bloke who’s value has been low for a long time.

Fit players are good players. Drapers fitness consistency has been awful.

Let’s also not forget he’s a rookie pick. If you can turn that into a top 10 picks then you’re absolutely winning.

It’s been Drapers preference to leave since early July. No negotiating was going to change his mind.

Easy to see why Drapes wants to, and will end up at Adelaide. When fit, he’s got RO’B well and truly covered.

Maybe this is a tactic to drive up Drapers price so he can secure Essendon a gtd band 1 compo? So far it is working because Cameron pantsed Obrien last night!!

After the performance last night of the Adelaide bogan gathering, Drapes heading west would lift that iq level immensely.
